Hello everyone! I need your help on a project about lucid dreaming!

So I'm a high school senior and at our school we have a Senior Project course that allows us to choose our own topic and make a project about it. My project seeks to explore the assertion that "Lucid Dreaming Can be Used to Improve People's Lives". I'll eventually end up posting surveys for the general users and longer, more detailed interview questions for the more experienced. But for now, there are two things I need all you amazing LDers to help me on.

1) The latest deadline for the course is the literature review, in which I have to compare two or three sources of literature in terms of content, viewpoint and helpfulness for my project. I have the book EWLD by Stephen Laberge but would like to know two more literature sources that I could possibly use and that could be effective for my research.

2) I need a "mentor" from outside school that can help me on my project and perhaps give me some important information that would be helpful for the direction I'm going. Preferably I'd want highly experienced Lders (and I might end up choosing one myself) so if you're experienced in LD and it has helped improve your life, I'd like to know if you are interested!

I think this project is a great idea. Hopefully it works out for you. Depending on the workload and your interest, I could mentor you on the project.

A couple of books that you might include in your bibliography (and reading experience, too) are Man and His Symbols by Carl Jung, and The Lucid Dreamer, by Malcom Godwin. Jung's book isn't about LD'ing per se, but if you're doing a project on dreams, it is vital that you've at least glanced at his work -- and this title is probably the most receptive to glancing (most of his books are very difficult to read).

All in all, there is very little valid literature out there about LD'ing, much less books that specifically show how to use it to make your life better. You might do well to look into books like the Tibetan Book of the Dead, though that might sound very odd. Be very careful about what you do choose, though, as there is a lot of crap out there.

I'm not sure I would be a pleasant mentor for you -- I tend to ask a lot of questions and look for crazy little things like proof -- but I'd be willing to give it a shot as well; students doing projects like this should not be left in the dark.

Lucid dreaming has definitely helped improve my life, although in a somewhat indirect way. I actually wrote a college essay about it... Turns out the subject of how lucid dreaming changed my life works for almost any prompt. Anyway, if you're looking for a personal testimony, I'd be happy to help you.

I can think of a book that might be helpful for you, depending on which direction you decide to take with your project, but I can't remember the title right now. It's about dream yoga... Tibetan dream yoga, I think. There is a lot of stuff about how you should live your life rather than directly about lucid dreaming, so it may or may not be what you're looking for.

Is your project about how lucid dreams themselves can be used to improve your life, or how learning to lucid dream can improve your life?

^^ Hidden, I think the book you're trying to remember is The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep, by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. If it's not, that's okay, because your post reminded me of it, and that I had forgotten to mention it above.

So, NoctemConArtist, there's another book for you; again well worth reading as well as listing in a bibliography.
