So, I had this dream the other night where I knew I was dreaming––pretty much the whole time, I think. I kept telling people in the dream that I knew I was dreaming. And towards the end, I was trying really hard to make myself wake up. But, I didn't really do much in the dream and I don't remember it very well. I'm thinking maybe it was lucid, but it just wasn't very ... vivid, I guess? Any thoughts on this?
Lucid for sure. The definition of a lucid dream is where you at least know it's a dream. Even if you have no control or it's very unstable or it only lasts a split second, it was still lucid. Try to remember what it felt like and try to ingrain that into your head, so you can recognize it better the next time it happens.

LDs are just as vivid as any other dream, though increased levels of lucidity can help you focus and increase vividness. some of my LDs have been pretty blurry and out of focus..
The question is - did you know in your mind it was a dream? or were you just saying it without any thoughts to the words coming out of your mouth (in your dream, of course haha)
Don't worry too much if you didn't get much done, take what you have learned and keep up the good work! I'm sure you will have a fulfilling LD any time now! :)
Eh, that's what I'm not entirely sure about. I'm pretty sure I was aware that I was dreaming, but since I don't remember it very well it's hard to say.Quote:

I am pretty new to this, so yeah ... It was definitely different from my other dreams since I knew it was a dream while it was happening, which hasn't happened to me since I was a little kid. Hopefully you're right that this is a good sign!
What happened was that I woke up at around 3:30 AM and couldn't sleep again until around 5 AM, and then I had this dream. Hopefully that's not what I always have to do in order to lucid dream... O_o lol
waking up like that is normal. i am always lucid but when i gain control is where waking is easiest. it is a fine line but if you wake you can have another LD
Hmm, okay. I'll keep that in mind.
Hmm check out my topic of simulated lucidity... It should help you decide. (in my personal opinion this was not a real lucid dream.)
Simulated lucidity Explanation
My first simulated lucid dream which I had before my first real one was a lot like this. Infact here it is: (I use the word "phase" instead of "dreamworld")
First simulated lucid dream
Trust me when I say you should have a plan of what to do. Here is a sample for you to try out if you wish:
1. Try breathing in through your nose while you pinch it with your fingers
2. Look at yourself in a mirror... Do you see your reflection?
3. Walk to a door wherever you are (in your house for example) and push it open and know that on the other-side is any location you wish.
4. Think of someone you want to meet and turn around to see them behind you.

Interesting ... I see what you mean, and you may be right. It could have been that I was dreaming I was lucid, while I was not actually. But I didn't really have a concrete plan either, so maybe I just didn't know what to do. Gah, I really don't know. Anyway, thanks! I hope to have a better lucid dream soon...
Yay, lucid! Congrats on your first (induced?) lucid dream!
Stick with it. When you have a fully lucid vivid dream it will knock your socks off! It wont be like a dream then... You will feel actually present there.
