I was about to induce lucidity for the first time, but then the tables turned. What happened?

The strangest thing happened tonight.

I woke up at 5-6 in the night, had a trip to the WC before going to bed again. I had taken 500mg of B6 and filled my stomach with cheddar cheese for one last, desperate attempt with the supplements. Then it happened.

I have no idea whether I was dreaming about lucid dreaming or actually about to become so, but out of the blue I could feel my body tickling as it gradually got heavier. I decided not to open my eyes in fear of what could happen, and tried my best at relaxing (which was seriously hard with all these physical feelings interrupting - is that normal?).

After a little while I found myself standing on a grassy plain. Most of the scenery was just completely white (like a paper sheet) except for the green, apparently hand-drawn dots of grass around me. I tried pinching/breathing through my nose. Success! From here on I started rubbing my hands together while circling around, but to no avail. My view gradually got more white and blurry, and in the end, I woke up.

Except I didn't.

I opened my eyes, only to find three guys sitting by my bed and discussing sleep paralysis with Obama. They reached the conclusion that the concepts of lucidity and SP were completely ridiculous, and couldn't possibly exist. I was slightly annoyed/skeptical at first, but then good old dream logic kicked in and made me derp completely. ''Oh, okay'' went my mind. Then I spotted that one of the guys' faces was lit up green. When I asked him why, he responded by saying that ''members of *my future school were not allowed to hear that''. Yet another (polite) derp on my part, before waking up for real.

I was completely furious at my subconscious for five minutes, before jotting down the fragments I remembered. I'm not sure if it was a lucid dream or not, as it wasn't particularly vivid, but I still have no idea what happened. Did I perhaps dream about falling asleep, or did my brain throw me out? :undecided:

The first part with the grass was a LD. If it was your first, then celibrate! Early on you will have to battle your mind to stay lucid. It is new and strange and your brain will be a bit freaked. You may even have DC argue with you about it being a dream or not. Perfectly normal.
The strange feelings arevtotally normal and as you get used to them it will be easier to relax.

Thank you! This is a pure bomb of motivation. Out of the blue, I've recieved proof that I can actually do this! :)
I don't think I used any specific techniques here, though. Perhaps a few hurried mantras. I guess the supplements did the trick.

Don't attribute the success to something other than yourself! You made it happen and you'll make it happen again, supplements or no.

This may be the first of many false awakening experiences for you. That is how many of my lucid dreams end, and how many of them start. Never let it fool you. From here on out, always be skeptical when you first wake up. It is very often a dream if you have just been lucid, no matter how realistic it may seem. It would be good practice to do a RC every time you wake up during the night.

Thank you, that's really inspiring! From what I see, it was a coincidence, but at least it's made me more prepared for the future.

Interesting. I remember having one of them before, where my curtains were opened and the sunlight was beaming in, even though it was in the middle of the night. I try doing RC's whenever I wake up, but my habits of questioning my state are somewhat sporadical, I'm afraid. Thanks for sharing your experiences (and your advice)!
