If you remember all of your dreams will it be bad for your mind?

Right now, the most recent dreams that I do remember are two. What if I manage to make like three Dream Journals or more? It would be awesome from one hand, but on the other hand, wouldn't it do bad to your mind? Like remembering all of those dreams, isn't like forcing your mind remembering?

By the way, I have just started recording my dreams into a Dream Journal, today though I didn't manage to remember my dream. I woke up in the night like 2-3 times, but I couldn't remember anything. Although, there are times that I remember my dreams, just today though I didn't manage to remember it. So I've just decided to let it go and stop forcing my mind to think about it. Perhaps the next time I wont miss it.

Another thing, before going to sleep I wanted to try a WILD attempt. I wanted to force myself entering on SP. I didn't move or anything, I focused on a specific object inside my room. When I went asleep I rapidly woke up focusing again on the same object, I didn't move my body at all. I thought I was on SP but if I did any move I would be able to get out of it (probably it was just my imagination). Suddenly, my heart started pulsing as hell, I wasn't scared though, I felt like lying on the sea and the waves would be crossing me. It was an awesome feeling, although I wouldn't describe it as vibration. Could that be a possible SP? Was I close to it? If yes, then SP isn't something scary at all.

I personally think that the more dreams you remember, the better off you are. When I'm stressed out my recall drops. When my mind is clear, I remember a lot. If you really are recalling all of your dreams, then that is taking a lot of focus from you, which I bet is a great brain exercise. :)

-sigh- If it is like that then it would be great remembering your dreams. I wouldn't like having side effects by that. I am more relieved now...

I know how you feel about being worried that it could somehow damage your mind. But if you think about it, if remembering too many dreams could give you a brain overload, then so would basic learning; memory is a core ingredient in learning, despite any wonder stories you may hear. Last year I gazed upon the dream journal thread I set up for myself on this forum long ago and I couldn't remember most of the dreams I read. I also read a story once that was linked from another forum, it was about a lady who had an accident and woke up with the same memory she had when she was a teenager. That's nothing to do with dreams, but it does give the consideration that your internal memory bank has a much more complex infrastructure than we think.

Regarding your second paragraph, that is not your heart pulsating, that is what's called your heart chakra and it's actually a symptom that you are about to astral project. If you haven't already, you may want to read up on astral projection if you get these physical feelings often, because it is closely related to lucid dreaming and the knowledge of both these subjects will greatly improve your success. Woot?!? I somehow felt like that yeah, although nothing happened because I gave it up, I was like "I shouldn't force my LD to happen, I will try sleeping, if I LD then OK, if I don't doesn't matter it will happen the next time." So if I try this today, will it happen again? I think I've got the method of this, if it was like that.

Would it be OK if I wrap a blindfold around my eyes? Usually I am sleeping with the lights on because the distance to the light switch is kinda far from my bed and if I try going to my bed with lights off then I will trip somewhere.

Another thing that I forgot to mention, while doing this, my brother had the PC opened, he was watching YouTube. Do you think that this might be a hindrance of not LDing? He didn't disturb me that much though.

1. Remembering your dreams is important to lucid dreaming. That's why it's recommended you write them in a DJ.

- it will help you identify patterns in your dreams, possible dreams signs, figure out, if there is any connection to what you do in waking life to frequency of having LDs, and many more
- writing your dreams and thinking about them tells your mind that dreams and remembering them is important to you
- it's fun to read them later on

2. I don't think you can 'overdue it' with how much you remember. I'm pretty sure, no matter how much we remember, our brain still has plenty of space for more memories.

3. The "waterbed" sensation you felt was one of the sensations you may get before LD or OBE. For purpose of LDing, I would not worry about trying to get to SP, or worry if you don't feel it. Many people don't feel the SP, but they are in it nevertheless. And the sensations can be different every time you WILD. I'll just remind you, that you should WILD after about 4.5 hours of sleep.

4. Blindfold is perfectly fine. I use it in the mornig when it's already light, so I can see the images behing eyelids better.

5. And don't worry - you can't force a lucid dream. And even if you "force it", it will not harm you in any way. We go through the process of falling asleep, getting into SP and dreaming every night, so it's nothing unnatural about it. Best thing for lucid dreaming is to set your intent. Believe in yourself, read as much as you can (tutorials and threads), be excited and have fun. Happy dreams :alien:

Depending on how successful you are, you might not want to force a lucid dream because it will likely make you anxious and/or inpatient, did with me anyway. In answer to your question though, there is a good chance it will happen again if you follow the same sleeping routine and technique, sleep being the most important. Reason being is that our brains produce the correct brainwaves required to alter our states of consciousness after an average number of hours and minutes, that number varies for people because everybody works differently. I debated with myself whether to explain that or not because those details aren't very important, but you sleeping the same number of hours is.

Regarding your second question, quite simply yes! The light coming into your eyes can add stress to the brain even if it's just a little bit, and it's much healthier to sleep with a lack of light anyway. Not only is this beneficial for sleep, but because of the soothing sensation darkness can give you, it can help you concentrate on your technique without distraction. Depending on the resistance of your blindfold, it should keep your eyes shut as-well which should support your efforts to induce sleep paralysis.

Finally, this entirely depends on how it effects your focus. Each person is different with this, as some people like a little noise in the background, and some people don't. As with light, sound has the potential to add stress, even if it's just a little. Gentle music or calming sounds of nature are fine as most people find them soothing. :)

As I mentioned, I just have started keeping notes of my dreams. I know that it would be useless and disappointing LDing without remembering it. I think I am going well with the whole process, though I wanna be neither too confident nor too pessimistic. I have the will of LDing and I know that it will happen, maybe not today, maybe not in one week, maybe not in one month but it will happen and when it happens, I will be ready for it!

I wouldn't worry, I remember most, if not all of my dreams. I'm still alive! (and have only noticed good effects from this)
