Sense of smell in dreams

I was wondering, has anyone else tried to smell something on purpose in a lucid dream? I've noticed that my sense of smell in nonlucids is really heightened, probably because I do chem lab everyday and we smell stuff all the time.

Anyway, I'm sure many of you have smelled stuff in dreams before, so for those who have purposefully tried smelling something once they got lucid:

What did you try smelling, and how was was it?

I just realized that not a lot of people talk about dream smells, and it seemed interesting to me so I kinda made it one of my lucid goals for the future :)

The other night I became lucid in this weird sort of classroom, and I licked a wooden table (it was sort of salty) to help stabilize, and then I noticed on the table there were a ton of little nug jugs, so I popped one open, pulled out the weed and got a deep whiff of it. It smelled, unsurprisingly, like weed, and the sensation was incredibly strong and distinct.

I'm curious about sense of temperature, like feeling heat or cold, possibly even extremes of them.

I always feel heat but I barely ever smell anything, I'll try it one of these days.

I did smell the air as part of engaging my senses to stabilize. It smelled fresh. I think that's the only time I smelled something.

Yea it is very interesting. I often have dreams where I'm burned alive, especially on days where I have an actual fever. But I've never tried inducing the extremes in a lucid. I wonder how that would work out D:

We should try something completely different like, say, smell a rainbow or smell a soul in a lucid. I wonder how our brains would think it smells :D

Makes me wonder to what extent negative sensations can be conjured/tolerated. Can you choose to experience being on fire? Frostbite? Extremes of pain?

Yup. Also, if you are able to do those, would it make you wake up or lose lucidity instead? Since you go beyond your normal mental threshold of pain, you might not be able to focus on continuing to induce more pain or sensations. I wanna give it a try, but not sure if I even can :/

I've smelled a few things, ive smelt flowers, which smelt like pollen, ive smelled different foods and liquids. But i find my senses, such as touch and smell, even hearing are all heightened in lucids, in non lucids i dont even think i hear sound properly.

Great idea :D I was actually already planning something like this. I wanted to feel like what it would be to transcend to a higher level (mainly to see what my brain will come up with) so I designed this portal

Oooh I recently smelled a soul in a lucid, a few weeks after I made this thread. It smelled old and dusty x)
