New and close to going lucid but can't quite get it

So I have been trying to lucid dream for about a month and came across this website and think its a great idea for others to collaborate about such a fascinating topic. I have had false awakenings, remember about 2 dreams a night and even became semi-aware in one dream but woke up due to excitement (I think that's why I woke up). I am trying everything under the sun to just get to the point of a controlled lucid dream but can't seem to get it. Does anyone have any other advice so I can put the nail in the coffin and finally break that barrier that's been stopping me for some reason? I currently do daily reality checks and the ADA method. Any other tips or information would help! Thanks guys!

RCs and ADA is great. You could add writing your dreams in a dream journal and mantras.

You could check out the DV Academy. It offers classes for beginners and also for every major induction technique and for dream yoga.

There are also tutorials you could read. Most of them are in DV Wiki and also in forums.

And yes, getting excided is #1 reason, why people wake up from a LD too soon. No worries, it will get better as you have more of them. Happy dreams:alien

Try sleep cycles, that works for me.

Set an alarm to wake up about 5-6 hours after sleeping, then try and stay awake for 15-30 mins (read or something).

Then go to sleep, I often lucid dream after that, my awareness is much better and I realise I am dreaming so much easier.

Set another alarm for an hour or so after just in case you drift off into a deeper sleep again, if you have been having lucid dreams, go straight back to sleep. Otherwise, stay awake for another 15 mins or so then drift off again.

At the start for me, lucid dreams almost always occured at the weekends, because I could sleep longer. Over sleeping is another good way so try having a long lie whenever you can.

Well for me, I just think about having a lucid dream and when I wake up and before I go back to sleep it's on my mind.
Generally I don't create the dream scape, I realise when I'm already sleeping and dreaming, so take things from there.

Try some affirmations, before you go to sleep and if you try waking up early, before you go back to sleep then, say to yourself 50 times, "I will have a lucid dream tonight".

I also find reading books on the topic quite interesting and the more you are thinking about something the more likely it's going to happen.

I was lucid dreaming almost every day 1-2 weeks ago, things have ramped up with work and life has gotten busier outside of work and so it's dropped out of my mind and I haven't had a Lucid Dream in a week.

Alright I'll just go with the flow and see where my mind takes me instead of forcing a dreamscape. And I'm sorry to hear about the lucid drought, I hope you get it back soon and I hope I start! Haha thanks for the advice. Good luck

There are people on here with a lot more experience than me and a lot of previous threads and articles with information.

If you are trying to induce a WILD (Wake Induced Licud Dream) then maybe visualising the dream scape is part of that....but it sounds like you're just trying to increase awareness in your dreams, so hopefully you get there soon.

Visualizing, or incubating your dream can help, but that's mostly for WILD. For DILD, saying mantras like "next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming" is really helpfull. But of course, for this to work, you have to practice looking at hands RC with that mantra during day. Check out this collection of methods for DILD.

I'm not sure if you going for DILD or WILD. I would recommend you start with DILD. Happy dreams:alien:
