How often can you induce a wake-induced lucid dream?
Bump.(I would like to see more results)
If I wake up at a good time and really attempt a WILD, it will usually work out most of the time. Sometimes I don't really even try though, and it just happens from being aware while falling back asleep after I wake up.
WBTB completely sober, 1 in 3 attempts.
Bedtime completely sober, 1 in 7 attempts or as few as 1 in 10
Add any intoxicants or sleep aids and it is about 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 with WBTB.
I can always reach low grade LDs about 100% of the time, but I do not count vague HH type LDs. I can always reach some degree of LD like activity, but it is a weak vague experience, probably due to not hitting REM before I decide I have been at it too long. I can often convert a nREM LD into something fun and worth counting, but unless it is a somewhat intense or interesting experience I do not count it.
I don't really monitor my success rate, but I average about 3-4 WILDs a month with 3-4 DILDs.
What is nREM?
I would guess that nREM means non-rapid eye movement (sleep)
Sleep is broken in 5 states based on brain wave activity. REM was given a special name, but all the others are nREM. They just give them a number, nREM1, nREM2, and so on. It does stand for non-REM.
You can learn to pull off WILDs in nREM, but it is a new and different experience when compared to standard REM dreams. The visuals can be really vague and cartoonie, but they can have very good tactile realism. The amount of randomness and DCs is reduced. Still, well worth learning to do, as it greatly expands the whole realm of LDing.
In nREM I can almost always create a dream body and experience the sensations of flight, transformation, or say walking, but unless I can actually get to a point where dream like events happen, I do not count it as a completed WILD. Good fun even if I never get to the level I count as success.
Some of you may have had LDs in which it was very dark, and maybe you had trouble getting normal dream things take place. You became lucid, but your vision sucked and nothing happened. Say, you became lucid and got frustrated that something was going wrong. Those LDs are in nREM, and it takes practice to convert them into awesome experiences. The trick really is just to not worry about the visuals, and just start doing things, like flying. The graphics will improve if you just start doing things.
