How age affect lucid dreaming?

Is it true that as people get older are less interested in dreams in general? A survey appearing in this forum shows that the number of people over 50 is small. Is this because they are interested less in dreams, or the fact that most older people have less relationship and knowledge of the subject and also the fact that they are less linked to the Internet connection. I have already 63, at first I was skeptical that I could have lucid dreams at all. It took me 8 months or so to experience my fisrt one. I wonder if there any scientific study about the relationship between age and lucid dreaming.

I think it's the fact that those in their senior age are not as skilful with the internet compared to those who are younger. Those who know how to use it have probably learned all they can about lucid dreaming so why try and learn something which you already know? Another thing to note is that I seem to remember being told once or twice that as you get older you remember dreams less and less. It's a shame but I'd have thought if you keep up dream journaling and things like that then the skills wont leave you.

I know how you feel, it took me a good number of months to have my first proper one. Joined Aug 2011 and had that first proper one Jan 2012 haha. I seem to have found this alot harder than everyone else though, surprising considering I'm only 17 :?

Don't think age affects lucid dreaming that much, for example i got my mom interested in lucid dreaming pretty quick and she remembers dreams better than me as well. :shock:
I agree though that it might be more because less skill with internet and such.

Pretty sure it effects it to SOME limit. But so do the rest of your life experiences. I think when we're younger it comes a lot easier to us, and as we age it gets harder just because no one around us encourages us to play with and learn from our dreams.... It sort of gets pushed aside in our society :(

Learning things is easier when you are younger. It is mostly things like competition and drive that go away a little more when you are older. It isn't anything like the brain doesn't work as well. :P

They say that it is easier if you are young, but there are people here older than 50, and they are good. :D

Speaking as someone over 50 there are probably several factors. One is we have so little time to worry about things like lucid dreaming. We have bills to pay and families to support. Also up until I discovered this forum people used to tell me that dream control was impossible even though I have been doing it since I was a child. Also you are right, we can't use the internet as well as anyone who reads my posts can tell you.

Personally I also think hormones play a role but that is inconclusive.

That could be the case with the amount of busy, but it is probably stress related. The older people are, the more they let stress effect them. Last semester I was working and doing school about 80-90 hours a week. I also have a wife with a kid on the way. I don't have the school now, but that could have been a really stress filled time, I didn't let bit get to me.

The internet part might be true though. I am 21, so I have a pretty good grasp on how to use these Internets. :P

Something I forgot to mention something else. If you are doing something your whole life it does seem harder to change. Something like sleep that you do everyday is definitely riddled with habits you have to get over. A 20 year habit is easier than a 50 year habit.
