Using LD'ing to understand your subconsious

This is actually a goal I thought of last night. Perhaps I could get a DC to tell me something about my subconsious. I was rather skeptical if this could work... Bt I fuess why not if you do it right!

So, i googled it and found a few articles worth a read.

Isn't our dream guide our subconscious? Therefore maybe we can ask our dream guide questions to do with the subconscious and get the answers were looking for.

Sure, if you have a DG i suppose. In the second link. The person says you just ask a dc if the represent your subconscious and you talk to him. Though I am proficient i. lD'ing, i don't have a DG. Guess i should study up on it again, but I don't think it is necessary.

I just read through the second link its pretty interesting. Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure everybody has a dream guide though like they have a spirit guide.

If you don't have DG, find him, i don't see why not to. :P

I think any DC could be a dream guide. Have you read Robert Waggoner's book? He has some great thoughts about this.

I just deleted my whole post, I wanted to make a coherent one where I don't drift away lol.

Situation:
1.Person X says they found their dream guide.
2.Person Y says they found their dream guide.
3.Person Z meets a dream character who claims to be her dream guide.

Problem:
If person X and Y have totally different concepts of what a DG implies, is one of them wrong?

a) If one of them is wrong, then there's no way you can safely determine the validity of a DG.
b) if none of them is wrong, then that means a DG can imply many things, and there's nothing to support that it is more than a dream character who possesses self-fulfilling prophecy's characteristics.

How can person Z find out if that DC is really her dream guide? She can't. That means that any expectation leading process that results into a DC proclaiming itself as being your DG may be simply that: not a subconscious representation (not more than the dream itself anyway), but self-fulfilling prophecy.

I mean really? Your subconscious is a specific entity shelved into a DC? People should first explain what they define at subconscious, especially because most of the new age subconscious is a lot of talk under the effects of confirmation and selection bias. This concept of DG, in my opinion, is inside of it. Besides, it will be always a product of subjective nature. This can be verified to some point when you read reports of DG findings. I'm not going ahead of myself to say that the majority of these reports follow this trend, but many of it relate typical story of people finding their DG when they showed in some way to have a pre-conceived idea of what a DG is. This seems pretty relevant to me as well.

Except for the sole article of Rebbeca Turner (which I enjoyed), those links don't seem very reliable. NPL is considered a pseudo-science, and the other article also has some errors and bold claims, like "your subconscious mind knows you better than you know you, and can give you vast amounts of insight and wisdom which can help when soul searching". Don't get me wrong though, I still find the topic interesting and I do agree with some "subconscious" definitions, it's nice you made this topic (I'm hoping the discussion will carry on ^^).

I'm betting this is the case. However, I have never succeeded to find a DG but I did have one experience when a DC guided me to lucidity. It was a dream version of Sageous the wizard. LOL.

I DO think, mostly from reading Robert Waggoner, that you can tap into your subconscious and get information that would other wise be unavailable to you.

lool, that's quite funny xD I also had one of those, but the DC was a old lady that looked like she had come out from a horror movie, totally creepy. I think it's safe to assume they won't lock us for this Xanous xD

I totally agree with you: Robert Waggoner is indeed a very good name to bring to the conversation after we read his book. Even though he's the first one to transmit the idea that all those views are a result of his experience, he has some really interesting concepts, like the one you can observe by his experience with the cloud/tornado and loud noise iirc. Makes me want to re-read the book!

There is a brazilian lucid dreamer that was conducting an experiment with the subconscious, more precisely," lost" memories. From what I've read, he's basically asking the dream to show him child memories that he can't acess in waking reality, like details of his childhood. He's had some success with it, and makes me wonder how far can we retreat in our memories with that...The deal is how can we know once again if he's experiencing "false memories" or real memories? The only way would to confirm it with another, abstract of his project, that was also present and recalls the scenario. But once again, even real memories can have fabricated details. Pain in the ass subject ^^

Yeah, I didn't really look into those sources too much to see if they were reliable. But they both certainly hold a rong of truth. The problem is that this isn't guarantee.

And about the childhood memories, zoth, perhaps living through some memories, it can bring it to conscious mind. Like, 'ah, i remember that now!'

I just thought of this. I was thinking, what if you could read in a LD? Then, I thought you could find your 'this is my subconscious book', and read through it. It could be good since it would tell you things you wouldn't think to ask. But, who wants to read in a Ld? And even if you did, couldn't that make your dream fall apart, and how much reading could you even get done? Instead, you could jump inside it, and see what is there? Though, you could just end up where you want. But maybe if you want to where 'the book wants you too?' IDK, it could be worth a try.

I think it would be hard to tell if it was true, fabricated, or a mixture of the two. Also, have you tried reading in a dream? It's very unstable and difficult to understand what you are looking at. Or maybe it's just me. :D

With enough vividness and the right stabilization technique, it would be possible to read and understand text. Its just those dreams that are not vivid enough I can never read anything properly. :D

I highly recommend Robert Wagonner's Gateway to the Inner Self, the whole book pretty much focuses on connecting with your Inner Self through lucid and transcendental dreams. I found it very interesting, and understanding my Inner Self is a major goal for me right now.
