Napping during the afternoon can be an good time to have a lucid dream. As you know, your brain waves and hormones cycles throughout the night and this creates the cycles of NREM and REM at fairly regular intervals. Well, your brain activity also cycles throughout the day. Basically, the way these cycles play out, there's a time near the midpoint of your waking day when there's an opportunity for your body to fall asleep. But this napping sleep is a very short and shallow sleep. You don't go through a long NREM period at the beginning, as you do at night. So you can attempt WILD or if not, DILD is still more likely during this napping time.
and MILD?
oh god Im stupid xD, I use MILD for DILD xD
Naps aren't my expertise but the conventional wisdom is that all techniques are equally effective for a nap as they would be for an early morning WBTB. The main concern with naps compared to other times is being able to actually fall asleep during the day (with the potential for noise, sunlight, caffeine, etc). If you can find a suitable sleep environment, you're free to use any technique.
yeah, I wasn't able to fall asleep... I darkened the room, and there was a noise, but not that loud....
Was just rolling over and over, never felt asleep ...
As I said in chat naps only really work around 5-7 hours after waking up for most people like sisyphus said. Generally it is caused becuase we have exited our morning awakeness but have not yet entered our evening awakening cycle, usually napping is done right after sleep and we are slightly exhausted because it is the hottest time of day. SInce we have no need for restorative sleep our body largely skips NREM and jumps straight to REM.
It takes some time to get used to naps if you haven't used them before, try them at different times until you find period of time where you are able to fall asleep without problems. :zzz:
@dutchraptor
I have successfully had lucid naps after up to ~12 hours from waking up, but that might be due to sleeping schedule i have. :P
Nice, what I said was really just a general statement though. Almost everything to do with lucid dreaming must tailored to suit each person, it's just easier if you start at what is well known.
