i was like you, would study and read up constantly, ritualistically fill in the dream journal in extensive detail. This was all within the first few months of trying to LD, around the time i joined up to this forum i think, so quite a while ago. I even tried all the supplements and binaural beats etc. Eventually, i fell out of the habit after no results, but in recent months i've been having LDs several times a month, including some WILDs with little effort or even thinking about lucid dreaming most of the time. And now everything i learned from that early period is coming into play and showing itself to be useful and it's sparked an interest again.
You might be over thinking it like i was, just relax, dont get too wound up or disappointed when it doesn't happen, let it trickle into your subconscious a little, give everything you have learned time to settle in and when all that knowledge builds up you'll get the rewards. Maybe others will see this and counter intuitive, and it take me a couple of years lol, but my dedication was not as strong as yours so i know you'll get there eventually - give it time! It's amazing how the human mind can pull things up right from the back when you least expect it.
edit: well it seems like what i wrote was irrelevant as i didn't read the thread well and you've figured out the problem hehe, sorry all.

Ok guys, I think I had a lucid dream but I almost forgot it and Im not completely certain that it was me or my dream self. Though I think some thoughts were my own and I did a couple things I wouldve done had I obtained lucidity. Is that expected when youre new to it?

Good Jon aarix! You gotta believe you can have one. It is a hard thing to believe that since you have spent your wholellife not thinking about it (till you found lucidity). If you can have 1 LD you can have to 1 million.
Awareness during dreams like what you are talking about does come with practice and recall in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
