Some people(like me) get really sucked in the game. I sit there and watch tv or play playstation and my brother gets out of the room(the door is right in front of me and he is a heavy walker). After a while I say:"hey look, did you see that? wait, he's gone, I didn't see him leave". I forget everything. Surely if it is a 30 minute play, it won't be a problem, but if for a long time, it starts to be a problem for self-awareness since you need to have a sense of self throughout the day, but if you get sucked in the game, it gets harder to hone that self-awareness to become second nature since you are not practicing properly. If you can get around that suck problem, then great!
I'm talking about the RRC and developing a second nature sense of self-awareness here. This is far more important than any other benifit a video game can give for LDing. I personally play 30 minutes then take a break. I will ask Sageous for more info and report back, clear everything out.

Ooh, very good points. I'd like to hear Sageous's thoughts on this as well.

Question:
One quick question:
Do video games suck our self-awareness? At least if
played a lot?
Sageous:
Not really. They certainly don't help, since they
pretty much shut off or occupy all the faculties you
need to possess self-awareness... to me they are
escapes from reality in general, with one of the
things being escaped being your self. So I suppose
you could be self-aware while immersed in a video game, but it wouldn't be easy and, worse, it
wouldn't feel necessary; and playing a lot certainly
wouldn't make your self-awareness go away
permanently. I think the thing that video games mostly suck is
time. I played them years ago (when Sega Genesis
was as good as it got, and a computer had 1 meg of
memory), and had to stop because they were
literally erasing several hours from my day... not a
productive way to live! So I guess if your self-awareness practice is solid,
video games won't hurt it .. but they will suck away
many hours in which you could have been
practicing self-awareness (or reading a book, or
talking with friends, or meditating, or learning a
new skill, or etc.). Hope that helped! Sageous
So, It doesn't decrease your self awareness, but as I said, it is a problem for being self aware at the time of playing, which, if for a long period, is not good for training your self awareness, at least for begginers.
Sry didn't quote, but I'm on my phone
