When did you have your first lucid dream?

When did you have your first lucid dream? I had mine when I was 8. It was really, really unstable. I saw a T-rex in a space ship and I thought "Oh, this reminds me of the summer of [irrelevant]"..... Wait, is this a dream? I controlled the seas that quickly turned to blood. Iscared so I woke up.

I had my first when I was in college. I opened my eyes, saw my bedroom, realized I was dreaming, and tried to go back in. I was able to fly around a bit before waking up, although the entire experience was not very realistic. It wasn't until I was in my late twenties that I had what I consider my first "real" experience.

I had a few semi-lucid dreams as a child, but I didn't know what they were.
About 10 years went by without any sign of lucidity...
Then in 2007, I was living with Astrosomnia and he read about lucid dreaming on the internet. He told me about reality checks and we decided to learn to induce LDs together. I think he had his first LD after only one night, and I had mine on the third night.
I've been hooked ever since! :dreaming:

I had mine like eight years ago... I realized that the dog I was seeing died a long time ago, so it had to be a dream. I started pinching my arm because I freaked out.

My first lucid dream was probably around my early teenage years. I had watched a scary movie before bed, and had a terrible nightmare because of it. I didn't knew about lucid dreaming at that time, so, like any terrified child, once lucid I desperately tried to wake myself up. What's weird was that, no matter how much I tried, the dream persisted on continuing, despite my efforts to end it quickly. No matter how much I cried and screamed at my sleeping body to wake up, I just would not wake up! The dream then continued on its usual course, and after a few seconds it finally ended.

Now that I want to spend more time inside my dreams they tend to end instantly when achieving lucidity. Oh, but those nightmares could take a god damn day long to finish if they wanted. :pissed:

My first lucid was when I was 5; was taking a trip to Spain in the dream in order to see some religious thing, which lead to first visiting a church. Right after demons started to come out and transform people and I became lucid because of that, knowing that such a thing could only happen in a dream. Then proceeded to man-up and kill some demons. The demon I killed apparently was important, because the rest retreated when the one died, thankfully my dream was kind and had that one weakened because of BS reasons so yah, easy win.

And then had my first induced lucid 8 years later at age 13, it was a WILD and nearly woke up due to excitment; then proceeded to slap myself, calm down and search for a suitable RC to become lucid on the next dream.

My first one was as a kid, didnt know what is was until now. Didnt have them often then, but when I did I would almost always be in my room in the dream and I would go to turn on my lights, but they would never work. But ever since of last year in august I have been inducing them intentionally myself. I just got into Lucid Dreaming in a serious manner about 2 weeks ago. The journey awaits.

Nightmares as a child triggered mine, it was imediade that I could see the dream and wake myself up; after I was more desensitized to the terrors, I noticed the dream state often; I find the state to be erratic and subject to my thoughts at the time.

Lucky dogs! I was middle-aged when I had my first ld. But I am proof you can start at any age...I am close to 200 LDs in 2-3 years.

I also had them as a kid, not really knowing what was happening or how far I could go with it.

Freshman year of college, my sister told me about lucid dreaming. I did a bit of reading about them.
And then a week or so later, I had my first one. Totally unexpected.
I ate a cheese pizza with a cute boy, and paid with a hundred dollar bill.
It was in the middle of the night in a deserted diner.

The next night I had the most epic lucid dream to date.
Way better than cheese pizza. Went to three different countries.

I forget my first lucid, maybe this is it lol, but it was right before highschool. After discovering it and reading about it online I had one shortly thereafter. I think it was because of the intensity of my fascination and excitement about it at the time. Having more focused intent ect. Now I've drifted away from my intent to lucid dream as my non-lucid dreams have been entertaining enough but eventually I want to get back into it. Have started doing reality checks again too.

It was two years ago, for the first time I found out about lucid dreaming, read an article about it, I was very amazed, and that night just went to sleep (I even forgot about that article), and bam! - I was completely aware of the fact that this is a dream. It lasted only few seconds, but it was great and made me fell in love with lucid dreaming.

My first LD was when I was in early middle school. I remember that I liked the cartoon Fairly Odd Parents at the time and wished for random things to happen, it worked. I didn't get into it again until high school when I was sick for a few months and got really good at it. For a few months I could have a lucid dream every night if I wanted. I'm trying to get back into it now but I don't have the motivation at night.

Man, I'm kinda jealous of these responses to be honest.
Mine was more than a year after joining DV I want to say, so about...5 years ago now. About 5 years out of highschool for me also.

I remember seeing Waking Life in highschool and even that wasn't enough. I can remember dreams I had as a kid, but mostly because they have always tended to be quite nonsense and nightmarish.

It took a long time of journaling and sign tracking to get to anywhere close to lucidity for me. Also drinking has always killed any recall I've managed to develop. At the time I was finally successful, I was also experiencing...a prolonged period of forced sobriety.

I think after a series of continuous nightmares, but I just used it to wake up. My first real one after reading about lucid dreaming the first time :)
