Just pure frustration

Hello fellow dreamers i'm new to lucid dreaming and have begun with the wild method. I have made around 12 attempts and the furthest i got was my body was completely numb, saw shapes and designs and i felt this sudden intense euphoria as if i was being sucked into the dream, but i became to excited and it stopped. Ive only ever gotten to the point where im completely numb ive never completed a wild although i have had numerous lucid dreams, they were not wild. I need help friends! Ive become frustrated that i haven't achieved a wild and ive spent hours reading techniques and such and i cant seem to do it.

At what time are you trying to WILD?
Right after going to sleep or combined with WBTB (WBTB aka after 5 - 7 hours of sleep)?

Before sleep and before afternoon naps

You shouldn't try to do it before sleep
WILDing before sleep is quite hard.

As you first fall asleep your body will enter long regenerative phase that can take up to 70+ minutes
While after those 70+ minutes you might encounter short rem phase (Around 5 minutes of low quality dream).

You should make your WILD Attempts with WBTB

Well,

It is too short if you ask me.
For me WBTB seems to be 6 - 8 hours of sleep

Thought i'il give you a hint about Mzzkc's Comprehensive WILD Guide
WILDing is quite personal so you shouldn't follow directly everything that is explained in this guide.
For example: I used to directly follow the hint to make anchors as little mind engaging as possible and i've ended up always falling asleep.
When i've decided to go a bit my own way it gave me big success :cheeky:

This guide is made so you will only get grasp how to get your first wild
Your first wild attempts are going to be hit n' miss till something works out for you.
When you find something that works for you, you should make detailed notes of that successful attempt and on next ones try to replicate the previous success to get similiar result aka lucid dream.

If something won't work for you experiment and research
WILD is very personal and therefore requires you to do so in most cases
Most of people won't get regular at WILDs till they throw their two cents in

WILD won't work at bedtime because in WILD the goal is go from awake to dream instantly without losing awareness. Now when you just go to sleep at night you don't dream at first, you dream during REM which only starts it's first cycle after roughly 90 minutes. Is taking notes of your lucid dreaming journey a key aspect of the activity/experiment, whatever you want to call it

It's not mandatory but it's quite helpful.
That way it will be easier for you to form your own technique basing on previous succeses n' stuff :cheeky:

If he was interested in sleep yoga or yoga nidra he could do it at night, but it's harder than lding.

That is true but what I see is someone who just wants to experience LDs for now and the way he's trying to do it right now won't work very well for him until he gets more proficient.

2 hours isn't enough. You should make sure to get about 4 hours before making a WBTB attempt, so in case you end up not getting back to sleep at least you've got a decent amount. Actually it depends on your normal sleep habits - how much sleep you need or usually get. Personally, my usual sleep time ranges from about 5 to 7 hours, tending more toward 5 usually, so I would shoot for maybe 3 hours before waking up for a WBTB attempt, but then I need less sleep than most people apparently. If you let yourself get too much sleep first (like almost as much as you normally get) then you won't get back to sleep, you'll just be up for the day.

WILD is one of the hardest way to induce lucid dreams since it requires such intense concentration. This is not always true as some people are naturally gifted for it, like people who are a lot more likely to enter the sleep paralysis state or people who find it easy to fall asleep yet have good concentration. If you started WILD you have to know that becoming able to do it will be very hard. It gets easier though, after having many ones you become a lot more disposed to how the transition into the dream feels and you become way better at it. Keep at it, try it every night with a WBTB and keep your journal. It took me an entire month of trying 5 times a week and my first one was very fuzzy, but now I've almost mastered it. It's a skill you have to nurture.

If you're already experienced with lucid dreams and understand how WILD works very well, try looking into DEILDs (Dream exit-entry induced lucid dream). It's another form of WILD where when you wake up out of a dream, you stay completely still and WILD. It's basically a fast track WILD because you're already prone to entering REM and your body is completely relaxed. You can even forcibly exit yourself when you're lucid and renter using DEILD to practice the transition from conscious wakefulness to lucid REM sleep.

EDIT:
Just read the rest of the thread and saw that you weren't using WBTB. At the beginning of the night, and if you didn't take any late afternoon-evening naps, it will be extremely difficult to enter a lucid dream, and if you did it would be very short as the REM phases at the start of the night are very short compared to the ones in the very early morning, which can be as long as 45 minutes (Which is a long time in dream time).

Either WILD on naps, after 3-5-7 hours of sleep (Exact times depend on when your REM phases are), or right after you wake up in the morning.

During your LD journey, in addition to your preferred methods, always keep in mind that you WILL have lucid dreams. With this positive attitude, you will be lucid dreaming in no time at all. It really works!
