Question about Mantra
Hello,
Someone can give me an explanation why if before falling asleep I concentrate on a phrase like "I remember my dreams and write them down in my diary" always works for me but nevertheless a phrase like "I'm dreaming" or "I realize I'm dreaming " never works?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how all that works. I'm also not sure how people find MILD to be a reliable method.

I'm not very familiar with mantras, but I know that they usually only work for me when I believe that they will work (or when I'm at least confident that they will work). Maybe you should try a different mantra that has a more personal meaning for you rather than a standard one that everybody uses. When I'm falling asleep I like to repeat to myself, "Tonight, I'm going to have a lucid dream!!!!", and I get really excited about it as well. Sometimes I wake up during the night without any lucid dreams but I don't let that bother me, I just do it again with just as much enthusiasm and positivity. :)
You could also try pairing the reciting of the mantra with imagining yourself realizing that you're dreaming and feeling how it feels to experience that. That works pretty well for me, I hope some of this helps you too!

Personally, while falling asleep, I repeat in my head "check your hand" because then maybe I'll remind myself to do a reality check. It's worked so far! You could also do "plug your nose" or "thumb through palm". Just something short to remind you to do a reality check (=
You can also try focusing on a mental image of yourself in a lucid dream, doing whatever you planned to do, or repeating something about what you want to do in the dream. For example, if your goal is to eat a carrot in the dream, repeat to yourself "I will eat a carrot." or something similar.
I'm not a professional, but hopefully these will help... Good luck!
