What if my life is a dream i create!?

Hey! I want to share with you my experience! Hope you will like it :D

My english is not amazing but please focus on the message not the text.

First I want to tell that I'm passionate about philosophy, metaphysics, consciousness, mind, matter...
So since an early age I studied ancient texts like hinduism, buddhism, bible, all ancient texts seen as "sacred": not because I wanted to be a believer or to find "God" but because I had that intuition that there is hidden messages, hidden truths, philosophy that can be helpful for me. I thought that it will help me to know myself.

PS: of course I didn't accepted everything I read lol. I still don't believe in God or Satan or demons or things like that. I'm still aginst religions but I'm aware that religious text may have sometimes great philosophy and truths. I believe only what I can experience.

So I spent years and years, sometimes I spend 24 hours just in reading lol. I was like a monk: doing just meditation and reading. I was a real no life! I had no interrest in the outside world or other people. The result of this was great happiness, joy, peace of mind... I was so "pure" in my mind and my life lol, I had chills just by observing the sky or anything in nature. I had great joy just because I walk, just because I was alive. I still have that state of mind because I feel like I KNOW what happiness is! Its just a mental discipline. It's just that now I have a "normal" life. Of course at the same time (in that past) I was aware in my dreams, those dreams were not only lucid but of great wisdom and teached me a lot! I was able to experience the truths I read, to make them more deep. Because knowning by just reading is not knowing. You know when you have experience.

In almost all texts it is said that this dimension is a mental one, just like what we see as "dreams". I knew that even before my lucid dream experiences. And when I became lucid I was an instant pro because I know it's ALL MIND, its all ME. I never needed any technique to master my dreams. So I already did the things that were seen as "advanced" from the first time. One day I thought: what if this "real" world is just a dream too, like Buddha said it. We all know that the lucid dream is just a projection of the mind but almost all ancient text said that this world is of the same nature. This idea was so amazing for me! I started even to study the nature of reality by reading about energy, particules, molecules, atoms and so on. Atoms are an energy, a force, just like thoughts. So the idea that this may be a dream was logic for me, So I started to master my mind in this "real" world like I would in my lucid dreams to see if I can really change my world. I was a shy kid/teen, I had no self confidence, no ambition, my life was a misery. I was just so small in my mind lol. And because of all those texts, all those "teaching" dreams I was convinced that this is just a physical dream and that I was the master of it. So I refused to believe in "evil" in "bad" in "misery". I had a new opinion of the world, of people, of ME. My world changed drastically!!! It was like I shifted to another planet. I don't want to go far about talking of my life but I can tell you that I feel that I'm the happiest thing in the world, I make reality of my dreams. I feel so blissful.

Of course this post is not to talk about me and my ego but to make you aware of that idea and to inspire you to try it. To think about it.

"WHAT IF MY LIFE IS A DREAM THAT I CREATE?"
- Ask yourself this question.
- Then analyse your mind. Observe your beliefs and opinions about LIFE and People.
- Know that what you think and believe makes your world and force you to meet the kind of people you think of.
- To change your world you change the cause: your mind. You stop believing in a bad world or bad people and see what happens.
- If you think about demons in dreams it is normal to meet them, in this life is the same, stop making "demons" of all sorts and you will not see them in your life. Those demons may be everything that cause you pain or unsatisfaction. Realise that they are just a creation of your mind but of course they are physical.

Like in a dream you live in your own world with events, people, everything that corresponds to your mind. In no way there is things that come to you in a "random" way. This is my greatest conviction: I live it every single minute. When you become aware of your mind you will see that YOUR world is just a projection of it. Then all your fears, all your pain will be gone.

This post could be so much longer, it can go so much in depth but I will stop here and if you have questions I will answer.

Welcome. I liked your post and outlook on life and dreaming. Was there one or a few books in particular that inspired you? Do you have some favorite authors or philosophers that most appeal to you?

I read so many books maybe more than 100 but the most inspiring, the most profound "philosopher" was Buddha. You can find his teachings online, It's not a book It's just texts. He talked about atoms before even "science" existed, I read that he inspired Einstein, and that Nikola Tesla was inspired by hindu texts (so it's the same with few differences). Its not a surprise because those texts are so rich, so profound, they sound like ancient science... In fact even the actual science, especially quantum physics are just going back to what was already said centuries before. Its like evolution is just a circle and not linear... we go back to what we already knew in the past: that the world is just made of conscioussness (energy).

But you know, above all those texts and books were just like doors or windows: it showed me a direction. It wasn't something that I just read and accept blindly. It is my experience, my self observation that made all that readings "in place" like a puzzle and all that knowledge became like a second nature. For exemple you may accept that this is a dream on a intellectual level, you accept that idea but you gain nothing from it as long it doesnt become your experience your second nature.

I recommand that you read the text Lankavatara Sutra Its very clear about what Buddha thought of this 3D world.
Some quotes from that "book":

"All such notions as causation, succession, atoms, primary elements, that make up personality, personal soul, Supreme Spirit, Sovereign God, Creator, are all figments of the imagination and manifestations of mind."

"All that is seen in the world is devoid of effort and action because all things in the world are like a dream, or like an image miraculously projected. This is not comprehended by the philosophers and the ignorant, but those who thus see things see them truthfully. Those who see things otherwise walk in discrimination and, as they depend upon discrimination, they cling to dualism."

The error in these erroneous teachings (of philosophers) that are generally held by the philosophers lies in this: they do not recognise that the objective world rises from the mind (consciousness) itself; they do not understand that the whole mind-system also rises from the mind itself; but depending upon these manifestations of the mind as being real they go on discriminating them, like the simple-minded ones that they are, cherishing the dualism of this and that, of being and nonbeing,ignorant of the fact that there is but one common Essence (consciousness).

"On the contrary my teaching is based upon the recognition that the objective world, like a vision, is a manifestation of the mind itself."

My teaching transcends the whole conception of being and non-being; it has nothing to do with birth, abiding and destruction; nor with existence and
non-existence. I teach that the multitudinousness of objects have no reality in themselves but are only seen of the mind and, therefore, are of the nature of maya and a dream. I teach the nonexistence of things because they carry no signs of any inherent self-nature. It is true that in one sense they are seen and discriminated by the senses as individualised objects; but in another sense, because of the absence of any characteristic marks of self-nature, they are not seen but are only imagined. In one sense they are graspable, but in another sense, they are not graspable. When it is clearly understood that there is nothing in the world but what is seen of the mind itself, discrimination no more rises, and the wise are established in their true abode which is the realm of quietude. The ignorant discriminate and work trying to adjust themselves to external conditions, and are constantly perturbed in mind; unrealities are imagined and discriminated, while realities are unseen and ignored. It is not so with the wise.

"...he must recognise and be fully convinced that this triple world is nothing but a complex manifestation of one's mental activities; that it is devoid of selfness and its belongings; that there are no strivings, no comings, no goings. He must recognise and accept the fact that this triple world is manifested and imagined as real only under the influence of habit-energy that has been accumulated since the beginning less past by reason of memory, false-imagination, false-reasoning, and attachments."

PS: when Buddha talks about "mind" he talks about consciousness because in Buddhism those words are the same. What we call mind is often limited to the brain, but Buddha said many times that All is mind and made of mind. Exactly like we think of a dreams.

The thing I don't like about Buddha or Buddhism is that their only goal is to WAKE UP (nibbana or nirvana), they want to ignore this life. I love Buddha and Buddhism, I agree that this is a dream but my goal is different: it is to be a lucid dreamer, to create my dreams (life) as I wish and that's what I do most of the time. Most people don't know that this is a dream, their dream, so their life is like a classic dream without awareness, sometimes it is a painful nightmare, without deliberate choices and creations; their mind is negative and full of fears and hate or misery and that is projected in their dream (life). My life is a dream too but a lucid one so I see nothing "bad" :D I wish that many people could experience this truth.

I had this idea too, that the world is just a dream but there's something that makes me forget that theory. Because, if this life is a dream, and we know that the dreams are a projection of our thoughts and our minds than the world must be different from person to person because people have different thoughts the world is different, I see the world I a way you in another ecc. But the world is the same for every one. And this makes, in my opinion, the theory only a bit true

If u only speculate, you may never become lucid in a dream. If you follow your conviction that it is a dream, at least then you are lucid. Dream control may be more difficult to master because you may still feel you are awake but you are lucid nonetheless.

Novakz that is a good point. I would say it is still true. What you experience in a dream is a sensation that everyone is experiencing the same reality. Believing that sensation perpetuates the illusion. At best we can say we experience an impression. With practice you can actually directly choose which impressions and sensations arise.

It sounds like you are talking about Universal Laws.

In general if you wish something into being on this astral plane then it will happen you just have to believe it and know it's going to happen and it will, the difference between this plane and other astral planes is that we are limited by time and often manifestations take longer. Plenty of books on the subject out there.

I agree with your thinking. There are a lot of similarities between the earthly plane and other astral planes if you look for them. The Buddha was 'enlightened' and obviously very aware of this fact.

Think about it more deeply! Do you really think that you and Paris Hilton live in the same world? You can even live with an individual, you can be in the same event or situation but you will not live it in a same way or reality. I don't think at all that we live in the same world. You live in your own world with people that are like you, that have the same mind: same concepts of reality and thats why it seems to you that we all have the same world as you. I sometimes watch tv or news and say to myself: wow... Of course Im aware of the negativity in the "world" but those are not in MY world. If we lived in the same world we would all have the same thinking, the same opinions, the same reality, everything the same. But that's not the case.
