Do any of you have a LD Before WBTB?

Hello Lucid Dreamers, I hope you are well.

I have been enjoying (understatement) the journey of LD since I stumbled into it in November 2015. I complete my RC's faithfully as well as awareness and dream journaling. I am very happy with the LD Count too! Still learning stability and control.

My question is: Do any of you have an LD before WBTB? I have always had mine after 5-6 hours of sleep, from a wbtb.
My routine is to always attempt a WILD after wbtb, while performing a MILD, failing that, a DILD.

I have written down vivid dreams before wbtb, but have never had a lucid before wbtb. Any tips to get lucid before wbtb?

Congrats on having so many lucids already! Your technique is identical to the one I began with too, and to that which I'm now trying to achieve again. Do you have a self-shutting alarm clock? Those are really great with your technique and you should get one. I personally never thought about pursuing lucid dreams before the 5-6 hour WBTB, because that way you can get a good night's sleep before actively trying to maintain awareness in the dream state. Also huge parts of the REM- periods happen after that 5-6 hours, so trying to get lucid when there isn't a proper dream world to enter is a bit hard. You're doing splendid with your current technique and I would continue with it. But if you really want to get lucid before the WBTB, I could suggest meditation, strong suggestion and visualization. You could also set a few alarms to wake you up before the REM- sleep stages, but again I personally wouldn't since you would be messing with your natural sleep cycle pretty hardly. Good luck! :)

Almost all of my LD are near normal wake up time with most of them after it while sleeping in (and additional napping).
Also almost all of them are on weekends (when stress is low and sleeping in is possible)

But I don't just WBTB a little I sometimes practice sleep disruption (set an alarm to go off every hour on the hour to get me in the habit of waking often), I drink lots of water and I often use 5-HTP to both shift REM and to cause me to wake up in the night (makes brain more active latter in night). Usually I wake up at least every 2hrs more often every 1.5 most of the night and sometimes after only 30-40 minutes when napping. So about 3-8 times depending on the night.

Occasionally I will have LD that are at strange times like midnight, they are rare but it does happen. Also some LD I have forgotten and when I am journaling and thinking backwards thru the dream segments (after some random awakening time), and during the process I will suddenly remember a false awakening with false journaling, where I am recalling a dream segment in which I am supposedly journaling an LD from an earlier portion. Of course I then recall the lost LD.

So yes, I have some LD that are forgotten and recalled from the middle of the night, and some that occur at around midnite (likely due to supplements)

I have very few before WBTBs, probably only one a week. Usually mine are further back the better my sleep schedule has been for the last 3 days. Since I am on a good sleep schedule right now, I could have a LD after only an hour and a half of sleep tonight (right before my first micro-WBTB), but still the odds are higher that I am going to have one after about four and a half hours of sleep. If I am on a bad sleep schedule, it is most likely that I am going to have a lucid dream after 6 hours of sleep.

These are all estimates, and I still think that it is just a percentages game until you find something that works for ya every dream. I guess it is a percentages game there as well, the percentage is just 100. :P

Im a light sleeper and I wake up naturally and haven't used an alarm clock. It sounds like I should continue what I am doing and increase the meditation and visualisation before falling asleep ..OK, I will do that and advise. Thank you so much

Hey thank you for sharing your experiences. Sounds like supplements are also helping. I might look into that one day. Awesome that you're getting some LDs early on in the night.

That's a great percentage, congratulations!
I am noting the importance of sleep schedule ... I do go to bed at the same time each night with a 20 min deviation. My eyes auto open between 5-5:30am and I use this as an opportunity to wake up and have a glass for water and write dreams down.

Yes, it's often called chaining oneian. Nice technique. I do it over & over when I get on a roll & have time. But I have some stress going on so I'm in a small slump but it always changes back to lucids & chaining in the end. Sometimes I don't post all of them due to forgetting them. I don't like to always right down every dream because I like to roll right into the next dream.

Thank you, Elaine. I have done chaining after wbtb and have enjoyed this a lot.
I shall try to chain earlier on when I have those brief awakenings earlier in the sleep cycle. I should then attempt WILD whenever the opportunity arises?

I've probably only had one or two WBTB LDs. Almost all of the ones I've had are from the DILD technique, and occasionally from MILD. So . . . yeah, I had LDs before WBTB :)

That's excellent , VenusDreamer !

Last night/ this morning I didn't do a wbtb and performed mild before sleeping and had a dild! So happy about this as i tend to take a long time to fall asleep after wbtb.
Now I'll continue to stay in bed, recalling earlier dreams, then mild while trying WILD...:))

I've had 1 before wbtb and I do mild before going to sleep, but then again I've had only 3 Lucids. For me atleast it helps to do mild and a wbtb for about 10-15 minuites.
