I'm a generally unmotivated person who's about to be sleep deprived because I force myself to wake up at a certain time of the morning despite being unable to sleep consistently.
I'm planning to have some naps in the afternoon to compensate for this.
How long should I be napping for lucid dreaming to be possible while not interfering with my nighttime sleep? Thank you.
Yes, it is possible to lucid dream during a nap. Napping is a way to artificially start your rem cycle. Though I'm not sure how long you should be napping for to actually get a lucid nap simply because I've never had a lucid nap, I'm just going off others' experience. Experiment with 30-minute naps, if that doesnt work, slowly increase the nap time, don't nap for too long though :)

Well, maybe 30-60 minutes. Any longer than that and I think you would be affecting your night time sleep. While you can get lucid during naps, I think it's more common if you're sleep deprived. If you get a good amount of sleep at night, you probably won't dream for very long during a nap. Just from my experience. I choose to not nap more than 20 minutes (if at all), because I don't want it to affect my night time sleep. I save my lucid practices for night time/morning.
For me, I think the best time to try a nap is late morning, an hour or so after waking up early. So basically a WBTB. You might have more success at different times. I would experiment a bit to find what works best for you.
NAP time normally consists of REM time also. Which means its not that hard to be lucid during it.
THink of it this way, when we sleep we dream, and if we dream we c an become lucid in it.
So no matter if its during a nap or through uberman sleep which is only 3 naps throughout the day, you can for sure become lucid in them.
