Lucid Flash Game

This is a great concept...I'd love to see it finished.

You should check out this little flash animation...could serve as some good inspiration for your dreaming state.

Anyways...in the false awakening state (just from my experiences) besides the usual lights not working, etc....you can turn the faucets as much as you want, and all you'd hear would be the squeak of the faucets and nothing would come out. When you look in the mirror your image would not only be blurry, but very distorted and a bit frightening. Like someone took the "smudge" tool in photoshop and messed with your reflection. Also, maybe in the FA state...things can just randomly appear beside you...like a person....or insects...but nothing too crazy. One thing I've learned about FAs...sometimes it really is damn hard to tell the difference between that world and being awake.

Hey thanks for some great comments and the link to the animation - it's really nicely stylised in kind of an unusual way. Pretty messed up ending as well!

just letting you all know that the demo is pretty much finished, I've now got to make it into something that can be used by people at our final exhibition and do all the annoying things like putting all the help and hints in etc. I should be putting it up in around 3 weeks. Ya know, all of my games are pure crap. I try to re make some NES games, and they're still crap. Your game makes mine so... pathetic. To think I was going to put it out when I'm done.

Other than being absolutely demoralized, I can't wait to play that game, looks awesome.

Right - sorry this has taken so long! Basically, the game became my worst enemy, and it started to drive me crazy - it started to become less and less about lucid dreaming and more just a random thing! It's also very very very unfinished, there are a hell of a lot of bugs in it etc, so like I've said before, it's more of a presentation tool that a game. I would love to say that I'd love to finish it but I actually can't stand the site of it anymore!

Still, I got a first for my degree, and I owe that to a lot of you here who have given me your help and ideas, so thankyou!

The game runs online, but it's easier for you to download the whole thing otherwise there's a lot of waiting around to do (as opposed to just waiting around for a long time once!)

Also if you want to see how the game would continue after you become lucid (the lucidity bar doesn't work) open the file lotus.swf

that looks awesome i ive gotta say im pretty critical when it comes to games moving on, the whole point and click concept is cool aswell it looks like its going to suit the game but if you want to hear from a legend of videogaming check out david cage's fahrenheit a true masterpiece, of course the finished game wont be anything like that, but it sounds like it has great potential.
