I've been lucid dreaming for a long time, it's something that sort of happens effortlessly for me. I don't do reality checks or anything. I notice that the thing that always brings them on for me is if I wake up in the middle of the night, and I'm awake for an hour or so, when I go back to sleep I usually have lucid dreams. This happened to me last night. I hate waking up at night, but it's always nice to know that when I go back to sleep I'll probably be lucid. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yeah, it does. Not me, though.
But there are quite a few, what we refer to as, "Naturals" floating around the site. People who usually or always know that they are dreaming, ie, are lucid. So, I guess you're not alone! :D

that's what they call WILD, 'Waking-Induced Lucid Dream'. Uber popular strategy for LDs.
-
WILD is when you deliberately hold onto consciousness as you fall asleep - one of the more challenging techniques for most people.
What Birdy seems to be experiencing is WBTB - Wake Back To Bed.

Yep, WBTB is definitely what you're doing. It's one of the easiest and most effective techniques.
But it still doesn't hurt to have some natural ability to go lucid frequently, like you do. :)
