Anyone know what causes?
ok this is kinda hard to explain however im hopin someone else will understand and hopefully know the reason for this strange phenomena that i have frequently experienced....
ok so im lying in bed drifting off to sleep but as soon as i have fallen asleep i instantly feel as if i have 'fallen' back into my bed feeling as if my body has then bounced onto it and am obviously then awake...
if anyone can help explain the reason for this or know what it is called it would be greatly appreciated

It's sleep paralysis. Lots of WILDers describe exactly that. Try just letting it happen and not waking fully as you bounce back, maybe you'll enter a lucid dream.

It's usually a good idea just to ignore and weird feelings that you get when falling asleep.

It's a hypnagogic myoclonic twitch.
Basically, you've fallen asleep and a muscle, probably in your leg or arm has twitched, strongly enough to wake you up. The springs in your bed respond to the sudden movement giving you that bounce, and your mind interprets it as having fallen back onto your bed.
It's quite common and perfectly normal. I've often had it with a dream in which I've tripped or stumbled, reinforcing the feeling of having fallen into bed.

nice one thanks people gona look more in depth into this still

Wikipedia has a page on myoclonic twitches. Be warned, though, it deals mainly with much more severe cases than yours. Worth a look, unless you're a hypochodriac. Your case is absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

I have this happen a few times a month myself. But, from reading this thread, I don't understand why my whole body bounces so, because I sleep on a special mattress without springs, and you can't bounce on it, it's pretty solid...

I sleep on a hard couch, it feels like im floating in the air and then fall down to the bed and wake up because i hit the bed so hard. Freaky!
