I mainly created this post because I found a lot of stuff wich helps, but not that much about things that acctually decrease your chanses of becoming lucid. Do any of theese affect your chanses of becoming lucid?
* Playing videogames
* Using your computer
* Watching TV
* Listening to music
* (Doing any of the above right before going to sleep)
* Being tired (Very tired)
I appologuise if this subject has already been answered.
EDIT: Sorry for misplacing the thread.
All of those will effect nothing to do with lucidity, except being tired is probably in favor of becoming lucid.
If you want some suggestions:
* Motivation is key to success. Without it chances are you will never become lucid.
* A steady sleep schedule.
Those two things I found impacted my efforts very seriously. Once I got a good sleep pattern going I found myself having more success. The second lucid dream I had came straight from my wanting to do it. (DILD - Dream iniciated lucid dream).
i thought that being really tired would negativlly affect lucidity
Why would it? Is your mind tired, or is it just your body?
I completely gave up video games for Lucid Dreaming. I got so into the games that they took all my attention away from dreaming. So video games not only takes my Lucidity away, But all dream recall as well. It wasn't always that way though.
Also when I'm very very tired, I just pass out with no recall. That's why I take naps when I get home from work. The nap takes care of most of the deep sleep, then I will usually get a bunch of recall at night.
Sometimes I do get recall in my naps though. And every now and then a nap Lucid. But most of the time I don't remember anything from them.
According to some, tiredness helps people WILD. It may also help with DILDS. Although this depends in the root of your tiredness. For example one may be tired due to exhaustive physical exhaustion. Nonetheless it is likely that this will not help lucidity. Whereas, tiredness due to sleep deprivation may help lucidity due to the REM rebound effect.Quote:

yeah I started powertraining again and I get relaxed way more easily if I train my body.. this is so true, also it increases bloodflow and oxygen to the brain.
im going to do powertraining in my dreams I wonder if it would work lol. I read somewhere tho, that the muscles only need to send a signal to the brain to increase muscle growth. So if you fake this signal with lucid dreaming I can train in my dreams? =P Or is this not possible with lucid dreaming, because people say everythings possible.. The signal occures during muscle failure, so if you just do some heavy exercises during your dream, you can make them grow! I'm a genius. I also intend to use my lucid dreams to train taekwondo and become world champion. But first I need to get steady lucid dreams :P

I am totally confused about this. I have been really tired from staying up really late and it seemed to help getting lucid. Other times when I am really exhausted I go into a very deep sleep and don't remember anything.Quote:

I think there may be mentally tired & physically tired which may affect dreaming, but i think the tiredness part is just a placebo effect, you think it will happen therefore it will or maybe just luck:D, your sub-conscious is open to that sort of suggestion(auto-suggestion is an example) as a means of basic survival.Quote:

Tiredness due to an irregular schedule would be a bad type of tiredness for LD´ing.
By the way, I play a lot of video games but I have no problems with LD´ing or dream recall. As long as you´re not playing 24/7 (see some of the real world!), you should be fine.
Does smoking pot effect lucidity? I smoke pot regularly and I find it doesnt effect my dream recall.

I used to have Caradon's problem. But I've learned to balance the two hobbies, and all is well. If I play a videogame before bed, I will probably dream of it. If I reality check while playing videogames, this becomes advantageous.
Of course, meditation during a WBTB is much easier for me.

Sounds like Abra solved the problem. I tried that though and it didn't work for me. I got a new game, got into it, lost all recall, and it took me months to get Lucid again.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before. But honestly, for me the one thing that will decrease you're chances of having a lucid dream is if you stress to much about it. Though, what will increase it will be the inner will I believe of truly wanting a lucid dream. But a dream journal helps as well;)

Stress does take it away, But anything I get over excited about, be it good or bad, makes my recall slip. Unless it's excitement over dreaming of course.:)
