People say that WILDs are longer and more clear. I'm inclined to believe that the first is true, because on average people don't become aware in DILDs at the beginning of the dream!
The second is more controversial. It really depends on how you reality check in waking life. How much thought do you really put into it? That directly correlates to clarity in DILDs. In a WILD, most of your awareness is already turned on before you even enter the dream. In a DILD, you must switch your awareness on manually.
Yep true.
In WILD's you are more aware, your mind is more awake. Dreams are therefore usually more logical and vivid.
Its also a very unique experience entering a dream conciously.
is wilding scary
Let's just say that WILDs are aptly named.
lol
but wwe101, they're not scary. Some people think they are because when you go through sleep paralysis you feel paralyzed (obviously) and a lot of people get a sort of claustrophobic feeling, but your body goes through that every night so there's nothing to be afraid of. Plus you also have hypnagogic hallucinations, which is nothing more than your dream starting to form, which makes it seem like there's something going on in your actual bedroom even though it's not. As long as you can realize that even if it may feel/sound like something is happening, it's not and it's all a dream, you'll be fine.
When i learnt about wilding, i just HAD to try it. It was a little weird.
However i just HAD to face it. What if i woke up during a crazy episode of sleep paralysis? I had to know what to do.
WILDing is awesome. I now enjoy the weird sounds, feelings and images. Its like watching TV with surround sound. If something scary does happen, big woop. I am the master of my head, and i am the most scary and powerful thing in there.
The reason that WILDs are usually better than DILDs is because they are more logical. If you have a DILD, the logical part of the brain has been turned off for hours and your dreams are fuzzy and illogical. If you wake up to WILD, the logic centre has been turned on and is still partially active, making your dreams better. Also works for WBTB, but not to the same extent.
cool. i think im going to give it a try tonight. ive been experiancing sp my whole life we before i found out about lucid dreaming, but ive never really had any hullicinations during them, wonder how thats going to go. im excited and nervous at the same time!!!
I've had both WILD's and DILD's and I would have to say WILD's are far more realistic and vivid than any DILD I've ever experienced. in fact my first lucid was a natural WILD. and I practically shit my pants when i realized I was dreaming. I aslo find it much easier to lose lucidity in DILDs and much easier to wake up as well. WILD's are bit tougher to come by (at least for me) to come with a far greater reward!
I agree. I had a few wilds and the detail is amazing. I mean you see every single blade of grass or every tiny bump of texture on the wall. DILD's are fun too, since your probably not 100% lucid like a wild, so you go along with the dream adventure, whatever it may be.
My WILDs tend to be short, unstable, and unsurprising. Probably because I usually WILD after about 7 hours of sleep (my dreams just before getting up for the day usually are a bit unstable).
But my DILDs can range from fuzzy and confused, to mind-blowingly detailed.
I think this is because I'm a natural.
Some of the DILDs I've had have been incredibly detailed aswell. One particular DILD felt like it went for at least hours once, and I spent some time examining the remarkable detail on doors and things, but eventually I got freaked out and thought I was in a coma or something, because after all that time I wanted to wake up and couldn't.
So I suppose DILDs can be incredibly long and vivid as what I imagine WILDs would be like (let me make it clear that I haven't had a WILD yet >.< so not all of this might be valid, but still, seeing each blade of grass in detail, etc... I can associate...) sometimes, too, but I've been able to just have DILDs since I was really little, so maybe that affects how vivid those types of dreams are.
DILDs can be just as good as WILDs, and, depending on how used to WILDs you are, better. If you are used to WILDs, then you might get a bit lazy on the whole awareness aspect of it.
A DILD after a brief awakening is most likely to match a WILD. During the awakening, you prep yourself to keep the mind awake during the dream. Which is what WILDers do, except they do it as they fall asleep.
My best experiences have been with DILDs, so I thought I'd defend them a bit. ;D
I like both DILDs and WILDs, but for different reasons. My DILDs can be real fun, because I already have a dream storyline to go with. I can go with the flow of the story, and have some amazing experiences that would be hard to come up with if I was just standing in my bedroom, lucid after a WILD.
I agree that most of my WILDs are much more vivid, and I am more lucid than my DILDs. Sometimes that can be boring, because it is harder to exert dream control and come up with creative ideas.
