Remaining Lucid
It's been about a year since I started trying to lucid dream, and now I remember at least a dream or two a night, and I have become lucid several times, though very briefly. In my dreams, when I become lucid (has happened about 6 times) I generally try spinning to solidify the dream. Unfortunately this rarely works, and in fact makes things less clear and I wake up a few seconds later. Just last night I became lucid, rubbed my hands together (I found that this DID help) but then I spun after that to try to makes things even clearer, and in the dream I got dizzy from spinning just once, stumbled a bit, and woke up.
SO I'm not going to try spinning anymore, but definitely rubbing my hands together. What I want to know, is if any of you at one point had the same problem, and if so any techniques you used to overcome this barrier.

Hey! Yeah, rubbing your hands can certainly work. I would also recommend touching and feeling solid objects in the dream, to "ground" you in the dream. Do like a "wall massage" or something. HA. Also, remember that when your dream fades, lie completely still and do not move. You should easily be able to do "dream chaining", and re-enter a dream.

Stare at something in your dream, and youll stay. Usually it makes things blur though, so if it does just teleport to a new place or make a new place. But overall it will come with practice and experience. Just get a feel for lucid dreaming.

Ah those are great ideas, I guess next time I`ll try focussing on something right next to me, and touch it to feel the texture. Thanks for the suggestions!

Also make sure to conduct a series of reality checks immediately when you wake up from a lucid dream, because you could just be in a False Awakening and actually realize it is a dream! This happened to me the other day, and you wouldn't believe how absolutely realistic those false awakenings can be. Don't miss out on a lucid!
Spinning doesn't work for a lot of people, or so I've read. It doesn't work for me, it does work for some people. If it doesn't work for you, just keep rubbing your hands (since it does) and experimenting with different methods, like viewing your surroundings, speaking, looking down at your own body, saying "Clarity!" to command the dream world to become more clear, etc.
Also, as you get more experience LDing, you should be able to stay in your lucid dreams longer as the sudden surge of excitement wears off and you become more familiar with the dream state and techniques. Just make sure to always first stabilize the dream, otherwise you can wake up or even forget that you are lucid and just continue in a normal dream, and that is no fun at all :(

It happens to me too sometimes. Today I had a LD that lasted 3 min and then faded into a false awakening. It seems to me that most of my LD's end in a false awakening :)
