logic in a dream

VERY COOL!
Ive been programming for many years and ive seen this quite a few times. It doesnt happen as much these days as i havent been doing 30 hour coding marathons which almost always help. But if you spend several hours coding something and then fall to sleep thinking about it, you will most assuredly code in your dream... if you can remember......


Imaginationary logic? what the hell are you smoking????? "no logic in dreams" what the hell? thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard. before reading this thread i had no idea people actually believed that nonsense...... amazing...

I think the thing with logic in dreams is that there are logical (rare) and illogical dreams depending on whether the logic area of your brain is functioning at all. Also, it tends to be that in dreams, only what you think is possible happens. So, if you're having a logical dream, you'll use logic and be able to recognize illogic, but nothing illogical will happen because you don't think it will (so you won't know you're dreaming). If your logic center is offline, all kinds of weird things will happen because you don't see a reason why they can't, but again, you can't realize that everything's illogical because you don't see why it shouldn't be. Once in a while something screws up and you think "wait a minute" and go lucid or wake up.

That reminds me that sometimes a joke (or something else) can seem hilarious in a dream, and then you wake up and think "what the hell was so funny about that anyway?". Logic is definately different in some dreams, but the same in others.

no often there is hardly any 'logic' in dreams, because that part of your brain is inactive?

This makes me wonder about the right brain/left brain balance in dreams. I have written songs in dreams before, and I remembered one of them when I woke up, and it's actually a good song (if I do say so myself). I think that writing songs is mostly a right brained activity, but not exclusively. Anyway, this post doesn't have a cohesive "point" to it or anything, just some things I'm wondering about. :?:

we should also notify the fact that when we are lucid dreaming, we do not get the same regenerating effects that non lucid dreams have because the subconscious is subdued during conscious sleep.
