Who is the best at LD??? (okay, good at LD)

I was just wondering about something. I have been on this forum off and on for a while and I have seen lots of people comment; actually some people are prolific commenters, but not actually prolific Lucid Dreamers. So, I was wondering comments aside, who are some really good dreamers on this forum? I don't really care who is the absolute best, but I was wondering if anybody out there has logged in thousands of lucid dreams of all different types, styles, methods...... Is there even anybody out there like that on or off this forum? Basically, I am looking to find somebody who is very good at many different types of lucid dreams. I hope this post doesn't offend anybody. I know there can be a lot of ego involved in this type of conversation and I really hope it doesn't turn into a "pissing" contest, but am more hopeful that I might truly be able to have a conversation with some really experienced dreamers. That's a great point and a good question. People are always PMing me because they see my LD count, and then they ask me WILD advice. I'm extremely non-versatile in my LDing 'skill'. Yes, I've managed to have some DILDs, but I'm completely retarded when it comes to the WILD techniques

This is also a great question because it kind of weeds out the naturals. From what I've read most naturals seem to only be natural in one aspect of LD induction, and are just like the rest of us in the others.

I think it is hard to differentiate between DILD induction techniques- at the end of the day, it can be difficult to say what actually brought you to realize you were dreaming, unless it was a blatant dream sign that you spent time RCing to. With WILDs, there's more the "What exactly were you doing while your body fell asleep?" aspect.

On the other hand, if someone found what works and is getting thousands of lucids from one method... well, I aspire to be them just as much as I aspire to be the kind of person who is successful at many methods :tongue: From a teaching perspective it would be great to master all techniques. From a practical perspective, I have simply focused on what works best for me to actually get me my lucids :tongue: And I am far from mastering that.

I know that shift and ninja have both logged over a hundred. There are others, I'm sure... But that's all I can recall. If you can catch him on his rare meanderings in chat, Billy-Bob logged over 800, but had more. Uhh...

Not just that, but what sort of quality is required? Quite a few of mine were very low level or ended nearly immediately upon attaining lucidity. I log every instance of lucidity as a victory of having achieved awareness during the dream- if I woke up, I blame that on dream control, and if my lucidity was low, I blame that on forgetting to stabilize. Are you looking for the whole package, or just attaining a lucid state?

That's a good point, Shift... I know I wasn't thinking of that. Attaining lucidity, dream control, dream recall, being able to remember waking goals/techniques within the dream... These are all unique skills within LDing. It's like, just because you have the most consistent serve doesn't mean you are the best tennis player even if it makes you a much better player.

So you want someone who is good at both WILD and DILD? Don't think I know someone who uses both weekly to get lucids <.<

Yeah, like Shift said, I'm usually pretty good at DILDs (have them frequently, at times, but I have my fair share of dry spells). I might have about 200 logged. But I'm damn near completely hopeless, when it comes to WILD. Most of my lucids are of pretty high quality/control, but there are some times where I have a lot of trouble with doing metaphysical things.

I taught myself how to get Lucid sometime in the mid to late 80's. I can't say how many I've had total because I regretfully didn't recorded dreams or keep track of how many I was having for most of the time I was doing it. As of now I don't usually count those brief moments of Lucidity unless there is something significant to me involved. I pretty much only count my DILDs. I can WILD into scenes pretty easily when I'm working at it every night. And I get some pretty fascinating experiences with them. But they are usually pretty brief and I don't really count them as true Lucids. I don't even write most of them down.

I much prefer a full blown DILD. I pretty much always use the same type of technique for DILDing because I know exactly how to get myself Lucid and that's all I really care about. For me it's just a simple matter of constantly questioning reality, doing RC's, and being familiar with my dreams. Right now I'm working on avoiding distractions, and just trying to focus on inducing Lucidity. I've had a crappy start to this year. I'm hoping to make up for it during the second half. :)

WILDing for me is Just a matter of trying to keep a completely silent mind and staying aware as I slide into the dream state. On those days When I can't keep my mind from wandering. I can use VILD to focus my thoughts. My VILDS are pretty brief as well. And though fun, I don't count those either.

First of all, thank you everyone for all your kind replies.

I think if I explain myself a little bit better, it might help explain why I asked this question and where I am going with it.

I consider myself to kind of (somewhat, kind of, maybe) be a natural due to the fact that I went lucid a few times as a child, but also that I have had 2 NDEs in which I was on life support; it were these experiences that really led me into lucid dreaming as I wanted to recapture them.

I started being able to lucid dream around 2000 and 2001 having read many books and web pages about lucid dreaming. Originally, all my WILD attempts were stimulating and trippy but ultimately failed in sad half attempts. Many of my DILDs on the other hand were very successful.

At that time, I was having nightmares very regularly and by being able to awaken in these nightmares I was able to process them and they have since stopped. One of my most powerful dream signs at the time was that something was trying to get me. If that happened, then I knew I could wake up and normalize the dream into something much happier. Actually, learning DILD was very therapeutic for me then and helped improve my mental health notably, but in someways I was nudged into it for my own sanities sake. (I wonder if this makes me a “natural” or “crazy”. Just joking)

Later off and on I would attempt WILD. Sometimes I would experience the most wild, vivid, hyper-detailed trips that I would ever have through WILDing. These WILDs were so powerful that I can still easily recall around 10 of them very clearly in my mind still to this day.

But for some reason, and one that I am not completely sure why, the better I have become at WILDing, the less intense and powerful they have become. Now, in someways I am very much like Caradon and in someways like Shift too. Actually, I can either WBTB or even meditate myself into a WILD with possibly around 95&#37; accuracy (if I set my mind to it) (I might attempt to WILD between 1-4 times a week depending on my schedule) (I agree that a lot of it is just mind control and that like many things involving control, the more a person practices than the better they get). But like Caradon and Shift mentioned my WILDs these days are often so short, less than 3 seconds, that I dare to even call them lucid dreams. Often times I just find myself either staring at a bare and pretty boring wall, floor, or ceiling, but there are other common experiences too. (Doesn’t make much for a conversation or dream journal topic) My stabilization, intensification and dream extension with the WILD technique have really become very poor lately. So, I am looking for ways to improve them. If I master the WILD technique I basically want to kick ass in the dream world like nobody ever before. hehehe

If not, I guess I need to go back to DILD. In a way that is where it all started. Interestingly enough even though while many of my DILD dreams haven't been as vivid and bright as many of my WILDs, they do often seem to last longer and respond to various common stabilization, intensification, and extension techniques mentioned in these forums.

Ultimately in an ideal world, I would just like to be able to really make my WILDs last longer and wouldn't mind hearing from somebody who has run into the same problem that some of us have had with LDs not having been extended very long. I would love to hear from them on how they were able to over come this and/or advice that they might have for me and others.

Most of them are DILD's I dont even bother RC'ing I just know. I have had a few WILD's but because it takes me ages to get to sleep (especially with an active mind) I dont bother with this technique. I've also been able to lucid dream from SP many times.

I have never kept count of my LD's but I would say I've easily had over a thousand, maybe even over 2000. The most I've had in one night is 8. I've also had a lucid dream in which it felt as though 2 days had passed and others that have lasted 4-8 hours long.

I've been to the lucid crossroads a few times, the void/hell, astral dimensions, parallel dimensions and the real time zone (these really require a lot more explanation). I've fought with aliens, had many abduction experiences, fought with demons, shadow beings, spirits... you name it. I once went through a period of time where each day I would be challenged by a more powerful demon than the last, until eventually I reached the highest ranking demon overlord and defeated him too.

I've died many times, tried out just about every lucid power you can think of and a couple of times reached 100% full control. When I say 100% full control I mean a lucid dream where you can do literally anything 1st try, and it will work perfectly each time.

Every now and then I will come across a problem in my LD'ing. For example I went through a period of a few months where my LD's kept being short, another few months where lucid sex would end the dream, few months with problems flying and now my current problem: closing my eyes causes me to wake up. But what I have found is that if I just ignore the problem and pretend like it doesn't bother me and that it doesn't exist then the problem goes away with time.

I really enjoyed your post. I can easily see how once a pattern LD has been set at an early age that it could just become a normalized part of sleeping for the rest of your life. Sounds like some of your trips have been pretty exciting.

Hopefully I can talk to somebody like you, but who has managed similar things with their WILDs. If not and I decide to switch back to DILD, I would love to chat more.

Oh now I get it, really good at WILD I only know of iadr and LucidDreamingGod (sp?), probably more but I don't read enough DV journals and don't want to assume <.<

So you want to learn how to WILD better?

I think it would be a good idea, rather than voluntarily writing your LD count in your sig to have some sort of vBulletin addon so your LD count appears next to your avatar, and you can input your LD count through the user control panel. Of course there will be no way to verify this but at least it'll standardize it.

Why go to all that trouble when it can just be put in your sig?

I am good at attaining lucidity, but not controling. I can DEILD every morning if I want.
