last night before i went to bed i repeatrd "i will know i am dreaming" and "i will reality check" and the nthe whole night it was like i was still half awake and everytime i had a dream i knew i was dreaming but i couldnt be lucid because i wasnt fully dreaming because i was stil half conscious.. it was a terrible nights sleep and this was the first morning in a long time that i had no dreams to record in the morning. was i trying to hard or sumthing?
You were probably too excited to sleep. When lucid dreaming techniques interfere with recall, you know you're doing something wrong. Ease off a little, and don't worry if it works or not.
I've recently experienced what you're experiencing... a horrible night's sleep, where you know you were dreaming, but really just feel like you were awake the entire night trying to sleep but weren't able to. I wouldn't worrry about this, because for me that hasn't happened night after night after night... only a couple of nights a month. I think an integral part of lucid dreaming is relaxing and taking what you get as it comes. It can be very frustrating to want to lucid dream but to have night after night of regular dreams or dreamless sleep, but practice and patience pays off with lucid dreaming.
If you feel like this type of night is happening again, forget consciously trying to lucid dream and just let go of your consciousness to sleep, because at this stage you will probably have more luck with lucid dreaming while dreaming than with wake-induced lucid dreaming. So I would suggest continue what you're doing, but don't let what happened last night repeat itself... if you feel that's happening, just relax and stop trying, let yourself sleep, and hope for the best. I've had success from simply wishing to lucid dream at random points during the day, so it's not totally necessary to keep the idea in your waking consciousness all night long.
Depends, are you trying to WILD or DILD? If you're trying to DILD then you need to be 100% asleep, not teetering on the fence of sleep.Quote:
