I don't think I can DILD
Well, I have been doing a lot of RCs in the past days. I have slowly decreased a lot over the last few days.
The thing is, I don't think I can DILD. After doing so many RCs, I thought my brain would be used to doing them in dreams, but I have had at least 9 dreams, and I haven't done a RC in any of them.
Is it because I haven't been doing them long enough? Or because my brain isn't actually used to it yet.
So far, I've only been trying to WILD, and not DILD.
Any thoughts/comments?

You just need to keep at it. This is the problem with DILD, it is too unreliable.
But if you keep at it long enough, you will have an LD eventually.
-
I think I'd be leaning more to the WILD side. It seems more appealing to me, and more reliable.
-
Yeah, I am currently trying to master WILD.
It is definetally the most reliable if you can do it.
-
I'm trying to learn wild too
Just keep a positive thought on dilding, you can dild and you need to know you can. Don't worry if it hasn't happened yet I'm sure it will very soon. Expect to have a Dild every night and I'm sure you will have one.
Good luck on your dilds and wilds!

How many is "a lot?"
I decided that I would attempt to do 100 a day (Thanks C911) and it got me a 3-night lucid streak. Then I decided it was too much work, and I haven't had one since (about 5 days).
If you keep RCing you will get it, it just depends on the frequency. I'd say that if you can manage 25 a day you'll get lucid about once every 1-2 weeks for sure.

I'm trying to get MILDing down...school gets in the way of my WILD attempts. Technically, it's just DILDing with more certainty and a higher rate of success. Check out the tutorials if nothing else sounds like your thing.

I think that 9 dreams isn't that many and I think you shouldn't worry yet about not being able to DILD. It can take months before you actually carry over the habit of doing RC's into dreams.
Keep up with it and you will succeed, I know you will ;)
Of course you can try WILD as well. Don't give up on DILD though, they are very different from WILDs and can be an amazing experience.

yeah man it takes time and patience. ive been at it for almost a year now and im finally having more than one DILD every month

If you think you can't DILD, you can't. If you think you can, and are persistent, you can. DILD, summarized in two sentences. ;)
Just keep at it. If you're just beginning to RC, chances are you'll need to do them for weeks rather than days if you want the habit to carry over into your dream. However, how fast you get it really depends on the individual and how often you RC, as well as the quality of your RC. Do you just glance at a digital clock twice, or do you actually question your reality? How did you get there? What are you doing? Who are you with? Do you know these people? Does this situation normally happen, or are you dreaming? Once you decide whether you're dreaming, confirm it with a physical RC. That type of reality check takes longer and requires more thinking, but it really pays off. As long as you keep trying, you'll eventually get it.
Good luck. =)

Hidden is absolutely right. The two things I think you need to have lucids are confidence and motivation. Keep at it, I know you can get it! Good luck!
-
Yes just keep at it. Sometimes it will take awhile before your brain gets use to it, but I bet once it does you will start getting LDs, so basically it may take awhile at first, but it pays of in the long run. Good Luck

The MILD technique has done wonders for me, it is essentially a DILD triggered by a suggestion you plant in you own mind before going to sleep. just look up MILD on the forums, it should help you out.

I think that you just need to give it time. You should be using RC's a lot more often during the day if you expect to make it a habitual action in your dreams. It takes almost a month to form a habit, so until then, faithfully keep a dream journal and do your RC's. Other than that, learning to WILD is a good idea (more reliable, etc...like everyone else said). You may just need to think about dreaming more. Spend a little time every day, especially before you go to bed, if you can, on Dream Views reading tutorials, or people's dream journals, or your own dream journal, just to get your mind on lucid dreaming. Also, tell yourself that you'll have lucid dreams, and MEAN IT. Positive affirmations will be one of your keys to success! Good luck.

You know, FYI, once you've had a small handful of lucids, you may get a DILD with little to no work on your part, just so you know! This happens to me. I always get DILDs without trying. Of course, I've had quite a bit and remember my dreams, plus, pure luck is also involved. So, if you want, focus on WILDs now, and there's a good chance that some DILDs will come naturally :D.

Might I suggest that you work on MILD, DILD, WILD (when you get the chance), and DEILD (once again, when you get the chance), using a combination of all of these will help you get lucid faster, because you can figure out which ones produce better results.
Happy dreaming!
