Hmm...I would really recommend getting at least 7 hours of sleep, if you don't already. To get the ball rolling, you may also wish to set the alarm to go off about 6 hours after you fall asleep, so that you may catch a part of a dream and be able to record it.
It could just be that these tactics are taking a bit more time for you, too. Everyone is different...I'd say to keep up with the mantras and whatnot, and the staying still is perfect. If things don't clear up in a week or two, you may wish to look into lucid aids (vitamins, etc). B-6 and apple juice are supposed to work wonders or something...
At least for me, I recall best when I get enough sleep and wake up naturally. Also my alarm clock isn't in arm's reach so if I used it I'd have to get up out of bed to shut it off, which would only worsen my dream recall.
I have also a big problem about my dream recall...just keep up your DJ and mantras are also a good way to remember dreams. Also, like mario said you can put an alarm clock to wake up up in the middle/end of a dream so it's still fresh in your mind when you awake.
I tend to remember my dreams alot better after 8 hours of sleep, when I don't NEED sleep anymore but I still stay in bed cuz' it feels good =)
What works for me is to when you wake up, lay there with your eyes closed and try to remember the very last thing your were dreaming about. Once you got that, try to remember what happened before that. Tell yourself, "What did I do before that?" "Where was I before I did that?" etc. Slowly backtrack through your dreams until they are set into your mind and you can write them down.
Good Luck!
I've also found that sometimes, for no apparent reason, seeing something in real life instantly triggers a memory of my last dream(s). It happens quite a lot, surprisingly. So, if you don't remember something right away, don't stress too much. It could come back to you once you see some ordinary, mundane object.
The biggest tip I can give you is don't move when you wake up. Stay still and then do what Conzo suggested, or something similar.
