In reality, however, any small thing out of the ordinary can constitute as a dream sign. LaBerge suggests searching for dream signs under certain categories, e.g. strange objects, situations, characters, settings, etc. Look for the most common types of oddities in your dreams, and spend the most time focusing on the top two or three categories.
I have long had a hard time trying to identify a personal dream sign, as I have very few recurring elements in my dreams. Now, however, I have been able to identify several solid ones based on category, and I now know what to look out for in my dreams.
Just my two cents on the matter. Please, feel free to critique/discuss/etc. :D Quietly protesting the 10 character limit.
