I had no idea that there was a name for being aware in dreams as I remember asking my mother at a young age about having the ability to wake myself up from scary dreams. I remember I told her specifically that I don't stay in some of my dreams long because they are scary so I just wake myself up. I remember her saying "wake yourself up?" I remember telling friends this stuff in grade school and they laughed and called me a liar. "You can't wake yourself up out of a dream" So I didn't discuss it with anyone else afterwards. Fortunately my sister has the same ability and we were able to share a lot of cool experiments together with lucidity. I didn't realize there was a name for it until sometime in late 1998. Once I realized there was a name applied to my type of dreaming I no longer felt like something was wrong with me. Which was a weight I was carrying on my shoulders for a very long time. I started researching my ass off and I've learned and applied a lot of techniques and methods which I continue to do till this very day. It's an ongoing process because there is always something new to learn whether you're natural or not. Being a natural only means that you have the natural ability to become coherent within the dream without any help of RC's or any other popular techniques. You basically go into the dream conscious and realize consciously that you are dreaming without the help of any techniques to help you determine it. It's just a natural know-how. I was calling my Lucid Dreams "Coherent Dreams" for a long time before I found out it's true name.
