Demonstration Speech Topics

So, I have a Demonstration speech due next week and I am having trouble deciding on a topic. I don't want to do anything too crazy, but I don't want to do anything that most people know. I'm kind of a spiritualist type, so I wanted to show how to do something fun along those lines. So far, these are some topics I've thought about showing and I just wanted some feedback on whether or not you think it's a good idea, bad idea, or any type of advice.

- How To Read Palms (for fun)
- How To Use a Pendelum (to help make decisions and what not)
- How to Meditate (I don't know how, really.)

So, if anyone has any OTHER ideas, that would be great. I'm really into these kinds of things, mostly because they're fun to do. I also considered something to do with Horoscopes, but I'm not sure what a good topic would be for that. I'm also hoping my teacher won't mind me using "paranormal" things. I just figure a lot of people have fun doing these sorts of things and and won't be bored listening to me. So, tell me what you think. I've looked up all sorts of topics and my head is spinning. So if you think of some other fun topic, just list it down for me please and I'll check into it.

The reason I came here to find a topic, is because a lot of people here are into the same things I am. By the way, I've thought about using Lucid Dreaming, but I decided to do an informative speech on that later on in the course. Plus, that's a little hard to demonstrate. :) Thanks in advance.

I like the Meditating idea. First of all, tho, you should look into it. you could talk about the mindset one would need in order to do this ect. but you could also talk about the psychological benefits that meditation has on certain psychological issues. A good example would be to look into that preschool that uses meditation as the main method of teaching the children how to listen and pay attention and especially how to interact with others.

I do a lot of people's homework :/

Darkmatters: You're probably right, lol. I hadn't given it much thought. I was just trying to give people an idea of what types of things I'm really interested in and want to tell others about.

I just wrote a demonstration speech for lucid dreaming a few months ago. But after taking the class I will definitely say that it is much better to do something that isn't so difficult to conceptualize. A speech about lucid dreaming is not good for people who have no clue what it is. My speech would have been ideal for beginners that are at least familiar that LDing exists :roll: My professor just didn't understand it. But she was an overweight ignorant bitch so she loved that all the girls in the class gave demos about how to bake something and they all brought in food. Great manipulation device, she really enjoyed stuffing her cake hole. I still got an A on it though at least.

So I would suggest NOT to do something like meditation. People might think you're crazy if you talk about reading palms, but if you don't care about that, more power to ya. Also if you are going to do a pendulum, you'd have to demonstrate how it works in the class so be prepared for it not to work properly. People are going to want to see you tell fortunes, and they'll be disappointed when you don't.

Yea, I didn't think Lucid Dreaming was a good topic for a Demonstration speech; however, I do plan on using it for my Informative speech. I think that one comes after the demonstration.

My profesor is an old guy and he's actually pretty cool, so far, anyway.
Personally, I just want to blow their minds. Though, they'll probably think I'm a freak. I'm more interested in helping people become AWARE of a subject than my grade. At least I only have to deal with them for a semester. So far, there are a couple people in my class I think would be interested in lucid dreaming, so I'm excited to do the informative. I appreciate the advice, I'll do my best to write it so people can easily understand it. I'm really excited to do the introduction. =)

I think after two negative responses to the meditation, I will rule it out. I figured reading palms was a good idea, because a lot of people just do it for fun.

I didn't even THINK about the pendulum thing, damnit. I'll have to find a topic that's not so far out there.

- How to Make a Vision Board

I really like this one. It's supposed to work on the Law of Attraction and it sounds like fun. Any comments while I ponder? =D

I had to take a speech class in college. The demo speech was fun :) I'm sure your teacher has already said this, but "Show what you know". That the simplest way to do great, have fun, and give the class something to ask questions about.

I chose "How to give an insulin injection" because my daughter has Type 1 Diabetes, she was able to attend the class and I simply dosed her in class, explaining the steps. I gave background prior to the demonstration about why we use insulin and how a blood sugar reading is used in a mathmatecal formula to find out how much insulin is required and when, and then briefly discussed the expected outcome of the insulin dose, and then took Q&A.

Here's some ideas:

-How to draw (insert favorite cartoon character, etc.)
-How to do a magic trick with cards or whatever else
-How to arm wrestle (or some other thing where you can ask for a volunteer)
-How to make something out of paper (origami, perhaps?)
-How to do something organizational, such as scheduling your day in a very productive, efficient, methodical way

**In the OP she mentions she needs topic for a report "next week"...in 2011.** :-?
