Ghost in my house?

Ok i'm not normally 1 to make these or believe in these but something just came over me that i have NEVER had in my life....i'm still shaking, i can barely type this....i even said in the air "please get out" many times...OMFG I AM FREAKING OUT!!!! dude...the feeling...i swear to GOD that feeling i had was something in my small room with me.....i have never been o scared in my life.....im freaking out......i kept hearing stuff move around and bang and footsteps and door noises in the basement. That feeeling i just got...i dont really believe in this stuff but what just happened to me i dunno...my hands are shaking SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my head was tingling like CRAZY! the feeling something is there in my room was there, my heartrate shot up SO MUCH. My cat ran away earlier when i heard these noises. I have never been so scared of this feeling i am having EVER! i don't have it anymore, just the after effects. I could not even feel my arms moving around when i was moving them myself. I know i am going to regret making this......

BTW i believe i made a thread about a noise i hear every now and then my dad told me about, and i hear it too...i even heard voices talking but muffled voices and it sounded like it was downstairs.

Turn on the tv and just ignore the feeling. Seriously, that feel you get usually happen when you are all alone, and while the tv isn't a real person some part of your brain kind of sees it as. Put on like a comedy show, and you probably wont be scared anymore.

The more you give into that fear or idea someone is in there with you, the more it scares you. It like feeds off itself. You are a little nervous, then you think of it more and more and then you get all scared. Basically sounds like you just got yourself all hyped up.

You might think you heard voices but have you ever gone into the basement to check it out? I bet if you did, you wouldn't find any ghosts down there.

I used to get the chills when I would run through my dark house at night, to the kitchen to get snacks. This was when I was really little. Months ago, I got the same feeling when I was really blazed and needed to run back to the kitchen. I think the correlation here is that when you are younger and when you are high, your imagination is running wild. Just take some deep breaths and remember that there is no real evidence to back up ghosts.

It is actually a natural human reaction due to evolution, because once open a time animals would leap out and eat you. If you walk down a dark alley at night, you might get the impression of the same thing, that you are in danger and stuff. Even if nothing is there, part of you is saying "Yea but a mugger could be hiding around the corner, look out!" It is a subconscious thing, and can be set off by unexpected thing. I mean, with the alley example the reason is obvious why you are scared. However in your own room, it may be something far subtler. And that little thing sets off your subconscious while consciously you are not aware of why. And that is why some people make up reasons like ghosts.

The feeling just came out of nowhere. I was listening at first going wtf...seconds later im at the peak of FEAR! i had chest pains for an hour and a half.... and only had 30 minutes sleep. I'm fine now but i'll never forget that feeling. Even if it was my subcon...jesus!

When I was a kid my dad told me "ghosts are pussies, if they had the power to hurt you they would but they dont, so they just try to creep you out" anyway I dont have much to contribute I agree with what everyone else said you probably freaked yourself out, it happens.

I've had similar experiences when we were renovating our house back home. There was a sudden loud crash and the unmistakable sound of glass breaking. It woke the entire house up, but when we went to inspect it we couldn't find any signs of anything out of place and there was no glass anywhere on the floor. Not even the contractor could find anything wrong the next morning. I would also see dots of light float past the door and once even saw two dots of light that looked like eyes coming from my bookshelf. Screamed like hell and woke both my parents up. There are other experiences too, though I don't expect anyone else to suddenly believe in ghosts just because I think I've seen them. :cheeky:

Turn on the tv, snuggle with your cat under a blanket and drink a nice cup of tea if it happens again and try to relax. It's freaky as all get out, but if it's not trying to hurt you then no need worrying.

I agree, i don't think it was a ghost anymore but more me wanting it to be a ghost because of a few noises. Although i did hear some strange crashes and door sounds in the basement....not the house settling down but crashes, bangs, etc. Once i heard a small noise in my room is when i was set off into the peak of fear and caused me to have chest pains for 90 minutes (yes...90 minutes!). Normal fear the chest pains would not last gone but theis fear i had overtake me caused it to last SO LONG, which tells you how scared i was..... I always say people find things they don't understand and pin it on ghosts and this thread is an example of that. I was too scared to think it could have been my imagination and i'm sure even the most rational people if under this fear i had would think it was ghosts too just because of the fear alone. Although even to this date i still hear the sounds of muffled voices talking...sounds like a conversation but i just ignore it. I always have partys at a house across the street from me.

If ghosts do exist (who knows?) then what i saw when i was younger was probably it. A figure of a man smiling at me and waving to me and walking into darkness....if ghosts exist that is probably a real one.

People say there is no evidence of ghosts but if they exist this would be the way it happens and people would always blame it on the imagination of you wanting 1 to exist. I'll never be a full blown dis believer because i don't understand how anyone could? i mean it can't always be "it was your imagination" and you always fully believe it or you are kinda blind and want nothing it to not exist so you do whatever it takes to blame it on something else (the reverse of a believer), but i'll never be a full believer because once again...how can you? for the same reason i said about dis believers. People should really be agnostic about this whole thing just because we will never know if they exist and we will never know if they do not exist. Also, if ghosts exist people say they are evil because they do not UNDERSTAND the situation. Something flying off in the room...perhaps the ghost wanted your attention and being human you thought it was evil therefore you say you got an evil ghost n you room. People misunderstand what is happening which leads to "evil spirits".








BTW i found out the noise that happens in the 1 room in the basement...i got a heatpump and the hot air makes the pipes make a thump so it is why sometimes in that 1 room only you hear the sound of a car that has music on blast and windows up and hear the rattle of the glass with that "thump" noise consistently. That is what the noise in the downstairs room is.

How do you know it was in your place? sometimes it may sound like it's coming from your place but it could be outside.

It was insanely loud and came from directly below us. I suppose it's possible it could have come from outside, but it didn't seem like it was buffered by the walls like I imagine a noise like that would be.

This I can defiantly agree with. Ghosts might be frightening, but not evil just for what they are.

I actually heard one belief that ghosts are like a memory captured in time and put on repeat. So not a sentient being so much as a movie stuck on a loop. Just thought it was a cool idea. :)

Yeah i heard that too, spiritualists think that is what ghosts are. I just say ghosts because it sounds better to say and sound better period then spirits.

One of my guys at work who's into this stuff told me to do an EVP so i thought "what the hell" and told him i don't believe in EVP's...we hear noises and think it's people talking but it's just different frequencys and people tell us what we are hearing, anyway i just tried it for fun and 3 times ina row when on my ipod recording i can hear my phone ringing when it wasn't...i figured it was part of what ipods do when recording but i don't hear my phone on any other ones. Maybe it's out of date or something? lawl a ghost is calling me on teh phone.3 recordings 1 by 1 and you can hear the phone ring. If someone tells me how to upload the recordings to here i can show you.

I am probably the most scared of the "unknown" you'll ever come acrost...i'm still sleeping with SOME light in my room and it's been a week since i felt what i felt. I know it was my imagination but the thought of if it was real scares the fuck out of me.

edit- It's the ipod...listened closer to the other videos and heard it again. I guess it's part of the recording thing.

Sounds like you were suffering some of the symptoms of a panic attack. Also, I think the incidence of (I hate to use the term) "schizophrenic" experiences such as hallucinations are much more common than people think. Hallucinations aren't that uncommon and perhaps that's what you heard.

Now why would you wish that? I think it sparked some interesting ideas and discussion. Even if you don't believe in them outright there's nothing wrong with having moments of fear that you might have encountered them, even if you realize that probably wasn't the case later.

Because the fear in me made me think this way....the way i fuckin HATE how people always resort to 1 possible conclusion. The ghosts did it! I guess it's normal and should not feel bad...but people need to stop thinking this way, me included when you're scared. Think RATIONALLY!

I have a fear of the unknown, i know that already and can agree to that and the sounds at that early in the morning plus the darkness i was in, the fact i never slept that night...not even 1 wink! But what is the unknown? for me, it's not knowing what that noise was. My brain conjured up some sound because i wanted to feel afraid, and the little things set it off. I don't like change, which is probably why i am afraid of the unknown.

I hate hypocricy and i am surround by it every single day, yet here i am being a hypocrite. I seriously can't stand being around hypocrites, probably the biggest pet peeve i have.

In order for you to be a hypocrite it has to be over something you can control. And the fact is everyone is a hypocrite now and again. This is just the way life is. We're not perfect and while we should always strive to make ourselves better that doesn't mean we can't slip up now and again. I hate it when my clients show up late for their appointments, but the fact is I'm late for my own as well. It makes me a hypocrite and sometimes I have to remind myself of that, but it doesn't make me a bad person just because I forget myself sometimes. I just have to try a little harder next time to not only be on time, but to remind myself not to get angry at my clients for being late as well.

It's easy to sit there and say what you should have done. You should have thought rationally, you should have considered what is obvious to you now, but the fact is when you're in the moment and faced against so many different odds what you should do isn't always so obvious. I remember one time I was driving home from my friends house by myself. It was my first really long trip by myself and it had already started to get dark. I ended up getting lost and ended up in a place where I couldn't get cell reception. I started to panic, badly but rather then turn around and go to one of the convenient stores that were in the town I freaked out and stopped at a random persons house. I knocked on their door and asked to use their phone. I actually went inside of their house and let them close the door behind me as I called my mother crying.

Do you have any idea what could have happened to me? What they could have done to me? I should be thankful that it was a kind elderly couple and not some freak who would have hurt or killed me. It was a stupid, stupid move on my part but I don't fault myself. I was scared, it was getting dark, and I had never encountered a situation like this before. I'm a smart girl. I knew better. I know what I should have done, but in the moment that was irrelevant.

Moral of the story is don't be so hard on yourself. You're human. You're allowed to make mistakes and yes even be a hypocrite.

Ghosts are absolutely real. Most experiences people have can be explained by natural, rational causes, but not all. I personally have experienced things that have absolutely no explaination other than something supernatural. However, most entities are not there to hurt you, and ignoring them is probably best if you want them to leave you alone. :)

It was ignorant in the sense that it put forth a false dichotomy. You exclude the third position of insufficient evidence/investigation to prove "ghost are absolutely real" true or false.

Apart from the logical side, you've yet to show that a supernatural explanation is an explanation at all.

Have you ever wondered why personal experiences/testimonies usually aren't taken seriously when trying to prove something is true/false?

Of course I don't wonder why. I am very aware that most people will not believe something unless they have experienced it for themselves or have solid, tangible proof. I am uninterested in trying to convince you or anyone else that ghosts are real and I never attempted to do such a thing. Honestly, I don't really know what we're arguing about. :?

The reason why personal testimony isn't taken serious in scientific analysis is because it isn't trustworthy. The brain has a tendency to be a giant hallucination factory. No matter how real something may be to a person, there is usually no way to duplicate the event. Most often, the person was having some sort of hallucination, whether visual or audible. False memories play a part as well.

Now, you can say that your goal was not to convince anyone, yet why claim with certainty that ghosts are real and give reasons to back it up?

Well...the OP was talking about ghosts in his house. I have an opinion on ghosts, so I posted it. That's basically the idea of a forum, right? Someone says something on a topic, you throw your two-cents in, so on and so forth? The statement of my opinion was not an attempt at convincing anyone to agree with me. It was simply a statement. Furthermore, I have certainly not given any explicit reasons to back it up. I simply said what I know personally to be true, and offered a word of advice. You were the one who jumped on me and made it into an issue. But you know, I'm beginning to think you just like arguing with me. :wink:

Or you could show the necessary conditions for having a blue sky and demonstrate that the sky possesses those conditions. Same goes for ghosts.

Actually, he's one of those people that goes around and whenever he sees someone making baseless assertions he points it out.

Blue and me are those kinds of people who will can't stand people making assumptions and assertions. We know the kind of suffering it causes and want to prevent others from experiencing it.

Ummmmmm, isn't this thread about whether or not ghosts exists? It is at least a relevent question, if ghosts don't exist then they aren't a sensible explination for what flanders experienced. I didn't turn anything into an argument, I just took part in the discussion.

So, I have seen "ghosts" four times.
I know for a fact that one of those times was a hallucination, because the people I saw were still alive.
One of the times could be explained by a VERY VERY large bear.
I have no explanation for two of them.

Personally I believe in spirits, but I don't blame every little noise on them. They are not made of dense physical matter so I don't think they can move doors. I do think it is possible that they might have mental energy, but that makes me think that if they did we would to. The thing is don't blame everything on the ghost. Hallucination, misinterpration, dreams sometimes even.

I find little green things all my floor all the time. When I first see them I think, FREEEEE WEEED! But a lot of the time it's just shit from outside or a tiny piece of broccoli. Human perception is not flawless, we can't be certain of what we see, especially if it's something that's highly contested and vaugly defined.

Which makes more sense, you saw something that is a non-physical thing, which would mean it lacks physical properties. Or that you misinterprated something as being a ghost?

What do you believers think ghosts are made of. Someone once gave me a really good answer to this, I don't believe it but I'll try to remember what it was.

I believe that IF ghosts do exist, they could be either a recorded echo of a past event, stored in the cosmic consciousness. If this was true, then their substance could not be determined as it would be nothing more than a memory, stored by the cosmic consciousnes.
It is possible they are seen due to a weakness, or shortcut in the fourth dimension, time. In this situation, a ghost would would actually just be the actual person, in the past, viewable through a sort of window in time.
OR it is possible that they are a part of that person's consciousness that remained in that area, and defies the fourth dimension, time. If this was the case, then they would be made out of the same "substance" as one's soul.
I also believe it is quite possible that ghosts do not exist.
As I've said, I have seen ghosts.
If one of the ghosts had not been someone who is still alive today, I would not have been able to say for sure that it was a hallucination. It was a hallucination, though.
I have had other accounts that could not be explained, however. That does not mean that there is not an explanation. It only means that I did not receive any clues that would help explain what I truly experienced.

I have three good experiences.

First one was a hallucination:
I was four years old. I was crying, and sitting at the edge of my bed.
Across the room was two doors. The one on the right lead to a hallway, and the one on the left lead to a closet.
Suddenly I stopped crying, because suddenly the two doors switched in my mind. Though both doors were closed, I knew that the door on the left now lead to a staircase down, and the door on the right now lead to a closet. I knew that they had swapped, and this confused me. Just then the door on the left swung open. My sister, my cousin, and then a girl I had never met ran through it, and vanished, in order, just before reaching the edge of my bed. Then the door was closed again, and I stopped crying because I was fascinated.

The cause of the second one is not as obvious, but it is VERY similar.
I am around six years old. I am laying in my bed (could be a clue), and two people walk into my room. They are a man and a woman, and they are transparent. They walk with a high step, almost strutting. They appear for only a second.

The third one:
There are indian mounds on my property. Three hundred and sixty acres of indian mounds. Of all of these mounds, the LARGEST mound is about two city blocks from my house. Next to the largest indian mound in the area is the SECOND largest indian mound in the area. My whole life I have dug in these mounds. I don't think that anyone minds. They are not burial mounds. They are old indian homes. These mounds are on the edge of a very large field, that is about the size of four city blocks. I've planted trees there now. :)
Right next to these two largest indian mounds, one day, I found two rectangular shaped, six foot long mounds. I knew right away that they were burial mounds. I was at an age where I had rejected the idea that disturbing a gravesite would disturb anyone, or insult anyone. I wasn't being disrespectful in my mind, because at the time I was convinced that the dead didn't mind what happened to their bodies.
I brought my shovel, rolled up my sleeve, and positioned the shovel on the mound. Then I stomped the shovel into the ground.
The instant I did, there was an extremely loud roar from across this field. Keep in mind that this field is the size of four city blocks. This was such a loud roar that it shook the ground beneath my feet.
I didn't come back for the shovel for months.
This could have been a bear, but it would have to have been a BIG bear, it would have been the only time I've ever encountered or heard a bear out here, and it had to coincidentally occur at that particularly special moment.
Real ghost or not, this is what ghost stories are made of, and it happened to me. I feel grateful. It makes for a great story, and I have no scars from it.
Since then I have changed my outlook, and I don't desicrate gravesights, just in case. I still live on this property, and I haven't noticed anything too out of the ordinary since then.

Well they could be eating some bread that was moldy(can cause hallucinations). Or something could be in the air in the house.

More likely it was a misinterpration of real things, one person said it must be a ghost so all of their perceptions where skewed towards this belief the next time.

This lasted for about 3-5 minutes, and all four of us sat there and watched it the entire time. This also happened for the next three days at approx. the same time.

I dunno, to me it seems like you just never figured out the cause. It was actual music? What style?

The door could have been a draft of wind or something. . Or like I said, you all could have eaten some bad food for dinner. I dunno, it still seems unlikely to me

But the doorknob was turning back and forth, and I don't think a wind gust could do that. I suppose we could have ingested some crazy bread mold or something without knowing it, but why would that cause a group hallucination of the exact same thing at basically the exact same time of day for three days?

A few things. It's probably nothing but like 3-4 nights a week i hear voices in my head. I don't mean whispers, like once a week when company come over and i hear their voices through the floor. At night i can hear a few voices it sounds like is coming through the floor but you NEVER hear what they are saying, you only hear the deep tone of the voice. I always hear a conversation going.....could be a trick of my ears as i do have a small case of tinnitus, which i guess could be the reason i hear the voices. Like i said, it's never the conversation i hear, it's the deep deep tone of someone talking with a deep hard voice. The other tone is barely hearable, so a smaller tone.

I once saw a figure of a man walking down stairs. It was early morning and i was standing up at the kitchen stove looking at my eggs being made, and i saw this white figure of a person. It was a man, he smiled and waved at me and walked into the other room (pitch black) and never saw it again....i chased it. I had the biggest WTF! look on my face, and my head was cocked like a dog.

Was it a windy night? the wind can play noises. I've heard some weird shit with the wind.

I do not remember if it was windy, but this was not the wind. It was very loud, very clear flute music.

I want to but i can't. Not enough proof and alot of the stories you hear are retarded. I also wanna think rationally, instead of the other one. I'm agnostic untill i die. Also, lots of stories are vague...you heard noises, big whoop! there are so many things that can happen and many things it could be. What i've learned about people is alot of them have still not grown up. Look at our past for example? lots of people have not learned a damn thing!

In the past....i heard a noise, a demon tried to eat my soul, obviously.


Today....I heard a noise! it could have been something that fell and rolled along the floor or the wind, but that's stupid why would something fall and roll the way it did? the wind can't howl on a windy day, etc. It was a ghost! i mean it makes sense, right? a demon tried to eat my soul today!!

People's first thought are "it was a ghost" and they stick with it....i'm no better because of this thread but after the fear was over i pretty much doubted it was a ghost at all. Let's get the facts....

I watched a ghost movie a few nights ago that night and those always put me on edge.
It was like 3 or 4 in the morning.
I was alone.

Add them all up and you got the makings of a wild imagination!
