There are many people who pretend to be scientific because it's trendy and authoritative, but they either don't know what they're talking about or deceive others intentionally. Like this video you linked me to.
What I read about hemispheres in normal books points out the fact that the hype about them isn't accurate. And when one talks about amygdala, he uses THREE unproven concepts:
1) amygdala has mystic qualities,
2) amygdala can be accurately "located" in your own head by pure imagination,
3) amygdala can be activated in your head if located by focusing on it.
It's not like I'm looking to put people down and take away their methods to lucid dream or whatever. I'd like to discover real methods, that's all. If this stuff works as a placebo effect, it's a nice opportunity to create something more direct and fast. After we learn what it is about the placebo effect that makes it work, maybe we could use it without all the fake explanations, directly, and without depending on strength of our belief. Wouldn't you want something like that?
