Pastelpeach's Workbook

Hi, I've always find dreams fascinating so I started to record them down using dreamjournal.net! I dream everyday now so I type them all down. I've known about lucid dreaming for a while and started using WILD because that was the first method I learned about. I've only ever got as far as sleep paralysis, twice. I found out from dreamviews that a beginner should start with MILD so I tried that and got my first lucid dream six days later :)

Lesson I:

2. Pinching my nose

2. Mall
3. Roller Coasters

Lesson II:
I'm currently using MILD, and my mantra is "A dream character will ask me if I am dreaming and I will do RCs in my dream." but the first time I had a lucid using MILD I just did RCs, no one asked me if I'm dreaming. I've only had one lucid dream so far, it's kind of disappointing so maybe I should change up my mantra.

When I do dream recalls every morning, I remember different places with different plots, but I see them all as one dream. I don't really know how to tell if I'm having separate dreams or just appearing in different places.

Lesson III
I think I'll stick with MILD, but I'm changing my mantra to "I am dreaming." ( Thanks to melanieb's suggestion :D ) I'm also going to start visualizing to see if it helps.

MILD is indeed a good technique.

I might suggest shortening your mantra to something simpler, something basic that will carry over for you. "I am dreaming" is a good one. Short and simple and in the present tense. Keeping mantras in the present tense seems to work better for most people.

As long as the mantra works for you all is well.

Work on dream signs and recall. I might suggest reading over the stabilization tutorial as well. Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views


Use this workbook daily. It really helps!

Alright, so I added another dream in my DJ, it was non-lucid. I ate a banana last night about an hour before going to sleep, I'm not really sure if it helped or not. I also found this thread about Subliminal Audio, http://www.dreamviews.com/f44/audio-...ository-55276/ and decided to try that out. Sad to say, I didn't have one single lucid moment last night. These few nights, I've been waking up a lot and that goes for last night too. I woke up 2 times last night feeling like I'm in a dream, because things were fuzzy and my body was heavy but RCs proved me wrong. I woke up 7 hrs later and surprisingly don't mind getting out of bed, but I realized that I should probably be in REM right now and decided to go back to sleep. After that, I had my dream. I'm gonna continue to try the audio, but this time I'll listen to all four of them instead of just one.

already having lucids! nice xD i've been doing the banana thing a lot to lol. I havn't found it helping, but then again i'm sure it doesn't hurt haha. Good luck , and wish you the best with your LDs!

Thanks! :D I pretty much forgot to do the banana thing after the first try... Maybe it will work after a while since we're not used to it yet! I wish you the best too, have fun on your first LD!

I can't believe I missed another DVA chat... the power was out yesterday :(
I had a harder time falling asleep last night than usual. I wake up a lot too. I think my mantra's not working out, maybe I should change it to "I will lucid dream", that's what I used when I got my first LD.
I added in 2 more entries to my DJ, both are non-lucid. I had a total of four dreams last night, one is private and I couldn't recall the first one. While doing WILD last night, I visualized hanging out with my best friend but one of my dream was me ignoring her, what. I think I found one more dream sign, public bathrooms, but I'm not too sure since it started recently.

I had a non-lucid dream about an arcade last night. It's one of my dream signs, so I should have been aware and do RCs but I have no clue how to remember that as a dream sign if I'm not even lucid... This is frustrating :(

Well if you go to the arcade often, i'd say to RC then but if you don't go there often i'm sure you can opt in with RCing when you think about the arcade? I can get how hard it is to RC when you aren't physically seeing it. I almost had a lucid last night. when i was dreaming i was seeing the dead comedian Mitch Hedburg in concert. I should've realized that he was dead but my dream character told me he wasn't -___- i'm soo gullible xD

I've found dream signs can be iffy things, general awareness has always seemed to work out better for me. If you're aware then dream signs aren't an issue, and you generally don't even need to focus on them to realise them when you're in a dream. Have you checked out the awareness tutorials in the Links & Resources thread in this board?

I've had my 2nd LD this morning! It was really brief, even shorter than my first one but still! This time, I didn't do RCs, cause I had a strong feeling that it is a dream but I did do the 5 senses activity to stabilize myself, everything was vivid. A moment later, I observed my left hand and thought to myself that I probably don't need to do that yet since nothing was fuzzy or fading out. As soon as I'm done with my hand, it went black and I woke up. I had 4 dream recalls, the most I've ever had :) Pretty good dreams too haha I went to bed right after the soundtrack at 1AM, focused on my breathing to relax myself and then fell asleep without saying my mantra... I woke up 4 hours later and went back to sleep. An hour later, I had my first non-LD. An hour later, I had my LD. I said my mantra "I'm going to lucid dream" and had 2 more non-LDs. I told my friends about LD yesterday so maybe that helped me get lucid? I also read about dream yoga before I went to bed.

I updated my DJ. I can recall 4 dreams this morning, all non-LD. I woke up thinking I didn't dream at all. I laid there and snippets of them came back to me, it's amazing!

Ah I love when that happens. I find sometimes I'll recall one dream and as I'm writing that down more and more suddenly come to me. I end up having to make notes for all the other dreams as I'm writing or I'll forget them! :P

I'm very sure I had 3 dreams last night but I can only recall two of them in the morning after almost giving up. I was so sleepy that I just rolled to my side and went back to sleep the two times I woke up. I'm not really sure if I really had 2 dreams, or just 1... cause they are related. Now the one dream that I can't remember will bother me the rest of the day :/

Hahaha I hate those!! Hopefully with more practice, dream recall will come fairly easy already. When I try to recall dreams, what I do is I try to go through each one of my dream signs. For example: Beach -- was there a beach in my dream? Running -- do I remember running?

Then if I remember a bit of fragment, I try to connect them with one another.

I find it's a lot easier than just laying there and trying to remember dreams out of nothing. Good luck! :D

I think my recalls are getting worse... Before, I can just write down dreams without trouble, now I have to dig around just to find fragments. I couldn't recall anything this morning except for needing to drive my friend home and (I think) getting lucid but lost it. I couldn't even remember if I was really lucid or I was just dreaming about being lucid. I tried to pinch my nose, but even before I'm done with that, I tried to push my finger through, then blackness.

Don't worry about it too much, recall can be sporadic and it's pretty delicate, can be affected by the most random things. The more you worry about it, the longer you'll have issues with it.

Just a thought: August is coming up! Why don't you create a list of personal lucid goals you would like to achieve this month? It can help motivate you and put you in a better mindset to get lucid sooner! Good luck. :banana:

I didn't try to be lucid last night, I was really stressed out. I recalled a bit from a dream this morning, it will be in my DJ. I also remember waking up feeling really happy from another dream, my mom was really nice (we had a major fight yesterday in RL). I hope I'll get to recall more dreams soon.

Well if you aren't having to fight to get only a fragment or so, then you must be improving! Especially with stress, that can really put progress down. Just remember not to worry too much about it, your recall will come back soon enough :)

I recalled 3 dreams this morning. I stopped doing MILD but not on purpose, it's just not on my mind by the time I go to bed. I really need to get in to the habit of doing RCs during the day, but nothing unusual happens since I'm home all day. I hope I won't be kicked out of my house anytime soon so I can continue to update my DJ and workbook :(

Recall is good, its just a matter of time for lucids...

Starting tonight, I'll need to ask myself if I had any dream every time I wake up, cause I always think I don't but I do...
So but by the time I get out of bed, I'll only remember fragments of the dreams. FRUSTRATINGGGGGGGG!

Pencil and paper by your bed, jot down a key word or two and i bet your recall will improve drastically.

I woke up smiling this morning, couldn't remember what I dreamed of...

At least that was a happy emotion! It's still a fragment of sorts to jot down. Though it is a little frustrating to wake up with an emotion and not remember why you're experiencing it.

I smiled a couple of times waking up in the past, the happiness seems surreal every time. Like I've never experienced it in real life...

I didn't do MILD last night, I went straight to sleep. I woke up 5 hrs later and I was gonna get out of bed but didn't want to miss my REM sleep. I didn't use any induction technique. I was in a dream and got lucid, I don't remember the dream, I just remember doing RCs. I couldn't push my finger through my palm so I pinched my nose, I had to take a really deep breath to confirm that I'm lucid. I kinda had a plan of what I want to do when I'm lucid but I didn't think of it at all in the dream. I thought I could try the TOTM but I couldn't remember what it was. I did RCs again with the same results. I didn't do anything cause I don't know what to do. I did RCs again but they didn't work this time. I don't know if I woke up or continued dreaming.

Congratulations on your lucid Pastelpeach! The fact that you did RCs in the first place is a really good sign already - you're just around the corner from a full lucid.

Maybe try a technique known as "Incubation" to try and remember your goals within the dream.

Awesome Peach!!! Sometimes you gotta break through that initial moment in a lucid dream with a little extra effort, but you totally succeeded by taking that extra deep breath. And that's after the the finger through the palm failed, so you really succeeded at a couple things: 1. moving to the next RC when the first one failed (which takes enormous rational skills once you are already in the dream, meaning to remember something specific from waking life once already lucid), and 2. once you moved to the second lucid test (nose plug), you gave it extra effort before giving up on it. This suggests an excellent level of rational thought within the lucid dream, which is an excellent tool to moving on to achieving greater levels of lucidity in later dreams, as well as extending them. So brava! :mrgreen:

This is why I try to preach the before bed list: Before you go to sleep (and you should think of it through out the day as well), have a plan for when you become lucid, plus a couple back up plans. The first can be your reality checks, the ones that you already know are successful. Like the nose pinch. Then try to remember the TOTM you wish to do. Then any other task that means something to you. I'd keep it at about 3 things on the list. You can even hand write them down, anything to hammer the thoughts into your subconscious. Mine for example, usually include: the TOTM, then going through a mirror (a past TOTM actually). The point is, once you repeat to yourself what it is you want to do in a lucid dream, you are more likely to remember it once you're there. Which shouldn't be a problem for you since you already remember things quite well once in the lucid dream. It's all about planning in your waking life at this point. :)

Thanks! I was surprised that I was actually lucid cause it didn't feel like it at all with the nose plug! I'm having trouble with remembering to do RCs during the day, it's just nothing unusual happens haha I will do what you suggest before bedtime, thanks! :)

I've been dreaming of Minecraft every night lately since I started playing. This morning, I watched as my aunt was cooking egg and it seemed so familiar to me, I stood there wondering if I had a dream like that. I was with my friend a few days ago and she was cooking eggs too. I thought it was just my memory playing tricks but I did have a dream of me frying eggs.

I woke up after 7hrs of sleep and couldn't recall any dream so I went back to sleep. I had a lucid moment in my non-LD this morning! Although it was really short, only for a min or two, I'm still happy about it! I pinched my nose, took a deep breath. I wanted to stabilize by using the five senses so I felt the cement, smelled my hand and tried to observe the cement. It was fuzzy and I had to blink so I blinked and wanted to say "stabilize lucidity" after but I woke up opening my eyes. I should have realize that it's a dream since it's in a mall haha I think this would've went better if I used an induction technique. I went back to sleep wanting to continue the dream, I did dream but it was not the same dream :/

I think your technique is probably fine, you seem to be able to DILD quite naturally. It's more a matter of stabilization and and keeping the dream going that you're having a tiny issue with. Although you're doing everything right, examining your environment, using different senses. Sometimes I have fuzzy LDs too, and I find that I just ignore the "problems" and continue with my lucid to-do list in spite of any stabilization issues. Quite often they sort themselves out once I quit focusing on them and just start doing what I want.

I'm still having trouble of keeping the LDs going... but at least I LD! I don't know if the senses stabilization help much, because every time I get to observing, I would wake up :( I really need to work on my dream recalls, I couldn't even remember much from LDs.

It's embarrassing to say but I just go with DILD & RCs... haha

That's not embarrassing at all! I did DILDs for about 8 years on DV before finally learning how to branch out. Mainly because of other members' experiences with Sageous' class, but also just from learning about other people's approaches. Lucid dreaming is an art form in itself, and it doesn't matter which medium you use, so long as it produces the results you want. :)

I am definitely looking forward to learning more and using different methods :)
