Hey Nova! Welcome to the class :happy:

I'm glad you're experimenting with WILD/DEILD when you wake up. They're goldmines to lucidity. And so are FAs now that you mention it. The funny thing with FAs is: these non-lucid tricksters ordinarily start out in your bed or bedroom. I'm curious if your see-saw experience was in your bedroom environment in any way?

Anyway, so my advice to you, if you have any sort of FA on a regular basis (or not): question the hell out of your surroundings EVERY time you wake up. Even better, go ahead and assume that every time you "wake up," you're in fact dreaming. This breakthrough helped me conquer the infamous FA, and I was able to turn it around and make these subconscious jokes turn into lucid opportunities.

So my big question for you is, when you heard this noise that ended up getting faster, what did it sound/feel like? Could be helpful in your future WILD/DEILD endeavors.

About the see-saw experience I was laying in bed, which I assumed was in my bedroom, but I'm not sure as I never opened my eyes. I generally don't have FAs so thanks about the information about FAs. I can hardly remember but this what I thought the noises sounded like: something deep and loud, maybe drums but somewhat synthetic/electronic.

You're welcome. And that's cool about the synthetic/electronic thing. On the onset of WILDing for me, I get these vibrations right? Well a couple times they were accompanied by a really weird electronic sound, kinda like just after Neo swallowed the red pill in Matrix. Next time you experience this, keep your eyes closed and imagine a scene develop before your eyes. That, or slowly open your eyes after feeling/hearing these sounds for a few moments. More than likely you'll be in a lucid dream at that point. At least, that's how I do it :P

Oh and if you do that, don't forget to check your surroundings really really well so you don't accidentally FA. I start the majority of my LDs in a scene that looks like a near perfect version of my bedroom. Usually something's messed up though, so be vigilant!

I have a small update to share. So I woke up around 5 and tried to do a WILD. However it started raining and I gave up. Eventually I fell asleep and had a short dream:

So I took a train out of some large city. Aboard the train were dirty stow-away children in an attic of the train car. I got of in a rural area and went to a place that sold corn and grain. I found a bucket of normal corn kernels, and and mutant ones which were thin and wide like a comb. I saw my dad making a garden with an excavator. He got out and we talked about something.

I couldn't remember much else except I remember the roman numeral III. Much later ~15 min I remembered seeing an analog clock, and thinking about the task of the month in the dream. The clock went about 3-4 times as fast as normal, but didn't tick. After a min (Dream clock) I thought that it was too hard to do while lucid and left the area. I don't think I did any reality checks during that dream, but somehow I was lucid? I also started doing FA reality checks, along with analog clock checks as I had never seen a clock in a dream before, save for one but that was digital.

That's alright, it isn't necessary to perform a reality check in order to be lucid. Ultimately, reality checks are done after we have some idea that it's a dream (or when we become lucid), in order to prove or double check that it is indeed a dream. Many times though, we reality check out of habit and that can lead to lucidity as well.

And I totally feel ya, rain is my weakness. Anytime it rains, I just wanna drop and sleep no matter where I am x)

Although I was very busy this weekend I did have a short lucid. My recall was very good I recorded three short dreams last night. I don't remember much of the lucid but I was out in a snowy plain. It wasn't very cold out, the first thing I remember was me knowing that I was dreaming. I did a belly flop and slid on the snow and stood up to do a reality check. My right hand had snow and bluish wet slush on it. I did a half-assed RC as I didn't try to get my two fingers perfectly through my palm. I double checked with my nose, and that kinda failed also. I don't remember anything else except that I did wake up hot and sweaty (too much blankets lol).

Oooh congratulations!! Try not to get too complacent with your reality checks in real life though, or they will mirror in your dreams as well. But good job! :party:

Okay, I was a bit obsessive this past week. :)

That's alright. On the bright side, that means you're paying more attention to things and amping up your awareness!

So this morning I woke up around four with a very strange dream. I took a leak and then started writing It down in my journal. I decided to do a WBTB. My alarm woke me up and I got ready for school. I did check for a false-awaking -and was puzzled for a bit as I forgot the analog clock upstairs was broken. As I went out the door I was like wtf, and then I realized I had a FA last night. I was in my bed it was dark out I heard some noise and assumed it was a snow-plow. I looked out the curtains (too much hassle IRL) and saw a half inch of snow. The last thing I remembered was thinking there probably was school still, and I would have to clear the driveway. I suppose my subconscious didn't want to go to school :), but I did honestly believe it snowed when actually it didn't.

Had a short Lucid Dream! The first thing I remember was becoming lucid. I flew up several stories to the inside of a dome so I could do my RCs in peace. It was oxidized-copper color and I thought could could I sit on the inside of the dome? I heard metallic groans and it turned 90 degrees then I went down a "slide". I pulled out my hand to do a RC and it was sweaty. Thats all I remember. For the last 3 LDs I seem to forget what I did, and my RCs have worked poorly.

Congrats! :party: haha funny how you didnt take the flying bit as a reality check as well :3 we have very weird lucid logic. Just this morning i went lucid and hesitated to shout because i thought i might end up shouting irl x)

Okay so this morning I had an epic long dream which I guess I was lucid for some of it. After writing for thirty minuets and not being able to fall asleep I decided to come here and share.

• Here I go: So I start off at my high school's plaza-outdoor thingy talking with a certain cute girl (I have done RC when I see her IRL). Some how she wanted to have sex after school/7th period (I have open). We were about to go to class when some random woman on the speakers said "Classes will begin with 6th period". I was like screw one class, so we left the area. She was speed walking, and I was having trouble keeping up, at times I was running. We then made it to the art hallway/ astronomy room. She began taking off her shirt but I was like no I don't want to for some reason. I wanted to do other stuff while I was lucid I suppose.
• This next part I hardly remember. It took place here while I was near the astronomy room, or after the train scene. I remember space area, with weird swirling colors, I could have been flying. This part is also referenced several times by others.
• The next scene I was in giant 40 foot cattle car Attachment 4288on a train. I was at the bottom trying to work my way up/escape? Each layer either had bad guys or hobos huddling in fetal position as it was cold out. I remember zig-zaging up each layer until I climbed the ladder to the top. I saw two trains running parallel with snow on the tops. We were on some 400-500 foot Iron elevated railway through some tall mountains. On the other side were some bad guys? On my side was a dwarf/little person (not sure which is PC) from school. He kept stumbling as the car was rocking. He says come out and help me. I'm like no its cold out, were 500ft in the air going 60mph, and its windy-are you insane? He then stumbles dangerously close to the edge and I reach out and grab his hand pulling him to the ladder.
• The last part i'm at some sort of cafeteria/buffet. I'm sitting at a table with around 8 people. It was darker with yellow lighting inside. We were taking about the astronomy room and the girl. Then this guy with tattoos starts saying I need to eat healthier (he looked like a prisoner). I went to the buffet and all the food looked good, and I got some roast beef which apparently contained ham slices.
• Somewhere in the dream I told my subconscious that I wanted to have lucid dreams every night- which is something I have wanted to do for the past few LDs. I also rubbed my hands after talking to subconscious and watched everything go crystal clear quality.

I just realized that there was homework for me to do(just like IRL :))so here is some additional information:
Times that I go to bed and wake up:
Bed time: 10:00-10:30 pm
Wake up: 6:20 am

Why I want to lucid dream:
-To do things I can't do in real life
-Explore my mind and subconscious
-Its somewhat mysterious

Next lucid dream:
-Fly in the SKY
-Explore new places
-Ask subconscious questions
-Have an epic adventure

Something weird that made me RC today:
-A stalled yellow midget-school-bus along the road

Okay I have a four-day weekend coming up and to make most of it I'm going to start to DEILD, and maybe even WILD. I'm generally rushed in the morning so this will be perfect to record dreams and perform DEILDs. Any tips/suggestions? Other than finding a litter of kittens during a SWAT raid in a dream I have no other news to speak of.

Well if you're going to be attempting WILD you should read WILD (Sageous) unless you already have. And for DEILD, just try and catch yourself before you fully wake-up or in between transitions from dreams.. I usually use the latter method and to create and dreamscene just imagine a scene, you don't even really need to visualize in my experience just whatever you think of happens. Okay so my weekend went well, and I have little news to share. I had no lucids, 1 FA where I woke up due to a gunshot, and hardly any dream journal entries. I wish I could write down my dreams, but I had to stay still for a DEILD. I may have to try WBTB, but I'm not sure if I want to miss sleep and be tired all day.

What if you tried WBTB on a day off, when you have the extra time to sleep in? Otherwise, if you're worried about being tired, I'd recommend getting at least 6 hours of sleep before you set an alarm for WBTB.

Alright I may try it on a weekend, how long would you recommend staying up and what should I do? I have heard a variety of things from staying up 20 min to an hour. Also what should I do while waiting read, listen to music, browse internet, ect? Any information is greatly appreciated.

WBTB times are very personal. The whole point of a WBTB is to wake up and gain some awareness. Its best after 4-6 hours of sleep. The amount of time is going to be up to you, and you'll have to experiment with it a little, but 20-30 minutes is a good starting area.

What you're aiming for is awareness. You want your WBTB to last long enough to gain your senses and some awareness. However, you also want it to be short enough that you'll still be relatively sleepy or tired. For some people, all they need is 5 minutes. Others may need upwards of 45 minutes or more.

As far as what to do, its generally best to avoid bright lights or monitors/TVs. Read a bit of a book, listen to some music, write in your dream journal, draw, etc. If you feel compared to use a computer, try turning down the brightness of the monitor, and read something about Lucid Dreaming, or look at some photography or paintings to get some creative fuel for your dreams.

I did a WBTB and had a lucid dream! I don't have much time but I will post more details later today. I went to the moon and visited ~4 countries.

The reason I did a WBTB in the first place was I randomly woke up at 3:59, which was exactly 6 hours since sleep. I wrote in my DJ, and browsed my ipod (dim). I couldn't fall back asleep for around a half hour though. I'm taking a break from typing so ask me any questions you have.

I got no progress this weekend, no dream recall or successful WBTBs (I tried 1 this weekend). However I did find out that one of my friends was in to LD, as he was talking about his insomnia. We didn't get to talk much though, but maybe later this week Ill ask him for tips 'n such.

The past week I had finals and had no dream recall. Zero. That's mainly why I haven't been on for awhile, I think the lack of recall might be stress related. However they're over and I got my recall back just like that. Would it be possible to have a lucid dream and not recall it at all?

I definitely think the stress is what affected the recall. It's always true for me, at least. Amazing how they magically come back huh? That's why when i have a hectic week and it finally ends, i take a day or two off from trying to do anything dreaming-related, and that magically readjusts my recall.


Yes, i think it is indeed possible to have a lucid but not remember. :)

I was browsing the forum and under recall found a topic over dream cartography. I found this extremely interesting to read. I love maps And diagrams in real life. Hopefully this will boost my recall and mabey I will find some dream signs. Even if it fails im sure I will enjoy making a map of my dreamworld. Im not sure I will switch north with south though, it seems dificult.

I just wrote down a small map for each dream that needed one. Fortunately for me I already had quite a few sketches done in my dj. I noticed that It was only the earlier entries. I will now try to start drawing quick sketches again. Now all I need to do is connect them in someway. I did find a stair case to heaven which was very intersting to find as a dream symbol. I think I will either draw the map or use something like ms paint.

Very cool, I love the idea of dream cartography, or even sketching dreams in general. Sadly my dreamscapes change every single second, so a map probably wouldn't do me much good. At any rate, I'd love to see your maps once you get some made.

Anything that we write about our dreams, or images we sketch, or maps, or even just colors shapes or feelings, they all help with recall.

I sketched around four dreams, and combined them together to form this. Unfortunately most of my dreams are in different locations, and I have no idea where they go. I did make sketches of most of my dreams so hopefully I can connect the pieces and put them on my map as well.

No lucids but I did have some long dreams. Before I went to bed I wanted to wake up at 4:30 sharp to do a WBTB. I woke up at 5:32 with this dream:

• It was a bright sunny day outside. My friend and I boarded a "convertible" train heading east/NE. We were on the last car, on top of a pile of hay. Then the other passengers boarded including a girl who sat back-to-back with me. She scooted off to one side, and the train took off. It was hot that day so the train had built in misters to keep everyone cool. However noisy children kept on hitting the mister button, and complaining about something. Some point I got off the train, and see a father buy an ice cream cone for his son. Some how I have a hold of his cone which is melting rapidly. I lick it so it doesn't drip. His dad buys him a cup, and I give it back to the kid except a glob of ice cream lands on his iPhone.

I then went back to sleep seeing how I was an hour off to do a WBTB just like last night. My alarm woke me up, and I went to go eat breakfast. My mom then yelled at me and said It was 5 AM not 6. I looked at the clock and it was indeed 5 AM, so I actually did wake up at 4:30 sharp. I went upstairs and my alarm clock did day lights savings, except they date was a few days late and I already changed it. I fell asleep and recorded this:

• The dream is far in the future, and I have a job of a police officer in California. I get a dispatch to a disturbance, and jump on my futuristic transformer motorcycle. I drive down the highway looking at the future cars including a semi-RV. I had ~9 min to get to my location, as my helmet had a HUD. I somehow crash into a parking ramp and don't get there in time. I get off my motorcycle and run through the adjacent apartments hallways pushing a black man out of the way. I jump through the window and land in a plaza. I went to the restaurant, and being tired I sat down at the nearest table. There was 4 people there and I asked this old man next to me if he knew where this girl was. He said no. I asked him I he knew anyone who could know her. He said no. I asked him do you know any 15-16 year old girls?(i'm 16 not 45:cheeky:) He actually said yes there is one across the street. I thanked him and left. The woman he was referring to was in her mid 50s and was talking with my mom. The saw me and avoided me. I followed them in to the office, and they were still talking. The lady says next time she makes a Hollywood movie she will dedicate it to my mom's films she made. The next thing I know I'm watching a documentary about how the future came to be. California was now the 2nd biggest state in size, and Texas looked like a ink splotch. Also the Midwest was now one large state which was very rich and powerful. I watched them build this city in fast forward out in the middle of nowhere. The largest building was 50 stories, made of stone, and had blue roofs. It looked like a combination of a cathedral and a castle. The last thing I remember was a shitty farm developing across the street from this huge building.

Lucids are great, sure. But dreams about bad-ass transformer motorcycles with high tech HUD helmets will do. :P

Lately I've been kinda out of lucid dreaming. I tried a few WBTBs during spring break, but got nothing other than a FA. However this morning I had a short lucid dream which was very interesting. Unfortunately I don't remember much of it.

So I was under a highway overpass talking with someone (I think a woman?). Later I was invited to a party with the first lady, Hulk, and Storm. Much later I am at a Goodwill store shopping with my dad. I hate shopping so I found a chair in the isle and sat down. I think I took a nap,and did a WILD in in the chair... I felt spinning which made me think so. Anyway I'm at the same place and fully lucid, so a dream within a dream. I do my hand check which kinda fails, then do my nose thing 3-4 times. So I am immediately board and think about going to see some super heros. I decide to fly and find the door out. It was pouring rain, but somewhat light out. My dad then wakes me up in the chair and says we have to go. I then wake up again in bed wondering wtf just happened. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Oh yeah! Lots :) Many of my false awakenings are like a few seconds apart from one another, like a short loop before i finally wake up. They are almost always the same everytime too. Just remember to practice reality checking everytime you wake up, no matter where you are. This can help catch fa's in the future. Good luck!

Okay so today I had a short dream. Basically I was flying through a cathedral, and flew out the exit and landed on the street. I then wanted to fly outside but my jetpack was out of power. Later I realized all of my dreams have been trying to prevent my not from flying, but from flying outside.

• Second lucid, try to go outside -girl from new york talks to me and wakes me up
• Another lucid, try to go outside -raining outside and dad in dream wakes me up
• Random dream, flying inside -cant find exit

I have only one dream that I can remember flying and It was very fun. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of how I can fly outside? I already know how to fly just it seems like my subconscious is trying to block me from doing it outside.

Here's an updated dream map of ~3 dreams at my school. I had hard time trying to get the peices to fit together, but I think I did it correctly, while having fun at the same time.

Had 2 lucids last night, which was completely unexpected. The first one:
Somehow I become lucid near my house outside. I don't remember doing any RCs but I think I did. I did however stabilize it like 3 times. Its very cloudy out, and I want to clear the sky of clouds to make it sunny out. I did make a small hole in the south-west region. I tried again but to no avail. I then said screw it, and decided to make it precipitate outside. It got dark out and started snowing flurries. I decide now to fly, and couldn't. I then find a curb along the street that was 3 feet tall and jump off and fly.
I fly east, and fly near a large industrious brick building. Somehow I try to fly over it but get trapped inside. It looks like from the 1970s with orange everywhere, and there also was people in there. There were oilworkers talking to the receptionist, while I tried to make a door to get out. The door wouldn't open, so I turned the bend and jumped out the window. I'm now in a large city, and see a large black building. I flew to it, and realized it was the sears tower. I fly to the top and put a mini empire state building ~6 inches, onto of a glass thing with flashing lights.
I then see the moon in an oval shape, trying to warp to a perfect circle. I then fly to it, and it flashes red and blue, like for 3D glasses. I don't remember much,except that everything was extremely detailed, much more than last time. I think then I lost lucidity and went to a martian colony with some friends.

Number 2:
I remember climbing up some stairs, and reach the top. There is 3 blue water slides. I wanted to go down one, and only one as the climb was very long. I ask the life guard if I can go down one, he says yeah. I choose not to as it looks as if you need an intertube. I then sit down in the water, and slide down a bit, but wait for the person ahead to go. I then go down and start screaming, it was almost vertical straight down. It was extremely fun, and I remember twice going upside down somehow.
I get out of the end and walk to the parking lot. I see a funnel cake stand. I walk up and ask if they have funnel cakes. They said they have many flavors, and she listed them. I suspected these were packaged funnel cakes when she said chili flavor. I ask if they were fresh and she says no. I then walk east into a restaurant, I ordered one buffet. She asked for 10 dollars, and I realized I had no wallet. I ran out the door, and into the parking lot. I then think I become lucid, realizing I don't own a SUV where I thought I left my wallet. I reach into my back pocket and decide to make money. I felt a tag and pulled out a $5 bill. I try again and pull out a $1. I look at my five aging and now its $10. I run inside and realize I need to pay tax. There is a homeless guy on next to a table and I grab two quarters, leaving the fifty-cent piece. I slam the money on the counter, and grab my $1 dollar bill back, except that now it was 2 two dollar bills. My dream started fading, and they completely removed and replaced the floor and table. I think I realized it and went to the table to see my water glass refill itself. I drank some, it was pretty good, but also had a chemical taste.

Okay so yesterday I just finished my first dream journal. I'm mildly pleased but I want to do something different for my next one. I have thought of two things, one is to make an updated DJ with stuff besides the date and title. The other one im considering would be like an app for my ipod. The reason is I would type out my dreams on my ipod, as its a bit easier than a pencil and notebook. So my question is should I keep a traditional DJ with stuff like tags, or should I get an app for my ipod (I have no idea what the app would be)? Any recommendations would be appreciated, as I really need to bring my recall back up.

I like using an app on my Android device for taking dream notes during the night. Later, I write the full dream out either online or just a file on my computer. I usually just write enough so that I can recall the basic parts and add in all the details later. One of the basic ideas behind a DJ is to really try to recall all the little details as vividly as possible. Not only does that help to improve memory and recall but it's also there for you to go back and read later, either to relive your favorite dream moments or gather those dream signs. This method seems to work fairly well for me.

Whats the app called? I don't have android though, but it may be on the app store still...

Diaro. It's not really a dream journal app but it works well for what I use it for. And it keeps a log of the time and date so I know exactly when I woke up to record the dream. Hopefully it's in the App store.

There is something named Diaro, but its for tourists in Barcelona lol

Yeah I just looked it up. Definitely not the same thing. :lol: Just try searching journal or dream journal. I'm sure something will work.

4/30/2013 -Zombie Apocalypse - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Its been almost a month, and I'm going to try to get back into lucid dreaming. I never really quit, just lost all interest trying to record dreams and such. Today I decided to quit procrastinating, and start again. Hopefully with summer starting and school out I can make some real progress.

I have a quick question: Is it better to try to wake after every dream and then write it down, or should you sleep through the whole night and try to remember your dreams when you wake up.

I had another lucid dream yesterday! Though I've been busy with work, the past two weeks I been saying a new mantra. Ill try to type up the dream later tonight when I have a bit more time.
