In order for you to decide if certain techniques work for you or not, you should really dedicate a solid 2 weeks or so to the method. Otherwise its just a shot in the dark, you really don't have much of a chance for it to work.
I would recommend that you adopt some form of ADA or RCing during the day; a mix of the two would be best. I personally use this:

After that, maybe introducing a WBTB to your sleep would help, for instance you could start using SSILD after a WBTB.
