How long did it take you to lucid dream?
I havent done it yet but i have been writing my dreams down for a week, trying a Hypnosis method, doesnt realy seam to work.
It takes years of intense meditation in a Tibet Tantric Resort NOOB!
I started trying to have LD's 9 months ago, had my first LD after 3 weeks, using MILD and Reality Checks. Managed a couple more, with one that was really awesome. Then I had to focus on other stuff so I stoppped trying for like 7 months.
I got back into it a couple months ago. At first just using affirmations, which didn't work at all. About 3 weeks ago I started using Reality checks, my Dream Journal, and a brainwave hypnosis CD, and I had my first LD 2 days ago.
I've had a total of 5 LD's so far. First time it took 3 weeks, this time it took almost 3 months. But I think that's cuz the second time, I was trying to do it with affirmations alone for 2 months. My advice is keep a Dream Journal. Even if you don't like doing it, it's probably the most helpful thing you can do.
Good Luck
For me it happened by accident. Someone had told me about the idea a few years before. They had told me if i ever realised i was dreaming to look at my hands. I did that, had a trippy lucid dream then came to this forum pretty much.
I was able to increase my abilities and frequency of lucid dreams by trying different techniques, reading books and learning from people on this forum.
I guess the more it was on my conscious mind the more it was on my subconscious mind.
Just take your time and be patient. Good Luck. :)
Peace Sensi.
By "affirmations" do you mean auto-suggestion? ... Like just telling yourself "next time I'm dreaming I will recognize that I'm dreaming"Quote:

??
I *was* using auto-suggestion (which is just another way of saying self-hypnosis), but a specific kind called, "DASH" Dynamically Anchored Self Hypnosis. It's what they call "eyes open hypnosis" where you don't have to be relaxed with your closed.
I had digestive problems for almost a year and after using DASH for a couple weeks they disappeared. But for some reason it didn't make me have Lucid Dreams, I'm not sure why. Maybe I just need to pick better affirmations or something...
:whyme:
I joined DV last Friday and had my first Induced LD on Wednesday night. Thats.....5 Days
Fluke... (nah, it's not that uncommon)Quote:

For me it took 3 weeks and I had my first LD using WBTB and... a form of MILD, I guess. It was worth the wait, though, and don't get frustrated. The more stressed out you get about it the less likely that they'll come. They'll come.... They'll come and blow your socks off!

for me, i got my first 1 week after starting reading here,
my second came a month after that.
and nothing since. :(
can't even get into the WILD buzzing stage anymore.
p.s. sorry for not being very chatty in chat today.
Im a natural so its easier for me. I have a tip that helps, Have a 3 hours nap during the afternoon, trhen have a 4 hour awake period then sleep. I find dreams more vivd, easier to remember and more chance of being lucid that way.Quote:

TRron Dont insult me..I Pwnage your Pantz0rz. Lol I wasnt braggin just answering a ?ion. See im upset now. *Cries
I'm just speaking out of hurt :shakehead2:
I've boosted my dream recall from nothing to about 2-3 dreams per night but NOTHING ELSE GOOD HAS HAPPENED. I tried both MILD and WILD with the WBTB method and it just caused me to not be able to fall asleep. I couldnt even enter the hypnogogic imagery state. I've been spending immense amounts of time researching this and I feel cheated by my bastard ego.
When i decided to get more serious and sstart that LD thing, it took me a week. My advice would be not to try and attempt only 1-2 methods and then wake up disappointed... Find one that works best for you, and learn to control your emotions, because when i first got my LD, i got really excited and lost it. Be very aware, dreams can be tricky - like last night i was standing on a street thinking how cool it would be to get an LD, only to wake up later and find out the whole thing was actually a dream...
Well...I started when I was 3, & have been doing it every nite ever since then....does that answer anything? Or am I being a moron again?
I tried LDing a few times. The first two times nothing happened in a few weeks so I gave up for a while. The third time I found DV and tried. I kept a dream journal for 3 weeks and did regular RCs, but nothing was happening. I decided to use my self-hypnosis that I had been practicing for nearly a year. The night I did the hypnosis I had no dream recall, but the night after that I had an LD. It continued like that for 6 days. One LD a night. My goal was a week of one per night, but I lost it on the last day.
Sweet, ive been trying for almost a week now, i recently had a dream where my self-conscious tricked me, i posted it up in the newbie zone, and my dream recall is getting better, and my body just woke its self up on the exact time at 2:00 am
i got my first LD after 2 days of trying ^^. it was a very weird LD. total blackness and i was paralyzed
I was lucky enough to buy a NovaDreamer when they were still being sold and I had a lucid dream the first time I wore it.
used to have hundreds of LDs naturally when i was little..
Since i came to the forums.. i started having them like 2 or 3 months after signing up (or after about 6 months of looking around the forums), since then i've had about 25..
When i started trying to control lucid dreams it took me a month to get any results
It took me 3 Months to have my first LD.
I started reading things about lucid dreaming in September of last year.
But I didnt have a Lucid Dream until the end of November.
Mine first LD came out of the random.
You paid 700 dollars for one of those?Quote:

Hi, I joiden here April 4th. Here's my intro in the newbie department that I made when I registered:
http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13745
I got my first LD in April 7th, here's the post that I wrote about it:
http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13848
So, that makes...3 days, thou I must admit, that I had read about the phenomenom in a finnish forum a day earlier. So that's 4 days for me.
I also must say, that I really was frantic about the subject, so it would have been unlikely that I would not dream about the things that I did all day long.
I used the WBTB method with 6h of sleeptime before the initial wakening. If someone is interested further, feel free to read my original post.
Fluke or not, this really proves that it can happen with haste if you feel lucky and/or anxious =)
I had my first one three weeks after I joined, just doing a WBTB. I've had eight in total so far, but three were under a minute.
Bought three different books on lucid dream in, I'd say, either late January or early February and had my first lucid on April 4th. :D
I truly believe the more you think about it and the more you read, the more likely you are to have a lucid dream. So, just keep reading and thinking about it! Don't give up! Good luck!!
It took me almost 2 months. Since then i haven't been completeley successful again :(
