Same Dream every night
a best friend of mine has been having the same dream every night for several weeks or months now with little variation with the occasional guest appearance of me or other things like that. Any help trying to break him out of this cycle? he wants to get started on this LD thing like i am.

Recurring dreams can be troublesome, as they can signify a strong emotional problem, and, in some cases, should be seen with a psychologist, so yeah. Don't take it too lightly untill you are sure it's not a big deal.
Anyway, you don't need to have different dreams to lucid dream. Hell, it's even better, that way he can know all his dream signs and patterns to a T. He's pretty lucky. No guarantees, but he may have a very easy time getting Lucid.
Pat him on the back for me.

Might sound a little over simple, but have at it! Sounds like you're ready to start working on LDing, so start surfing through the website, check out some of the tutorials, and start working on the building blocks of dream recall and reality checks.

i have told him the second part, i wasnt sure but i figured that the same dream would help him realize he was dreaming so thanks for confirming that :). but as for the strong emotional problem, he says he doesnt want to tell me what the dream is so that could be a big deal. thanks alot ill make sure to show him this

Recurring dreams aren't necessarily synonymous with a "strong emotional problem." They are more often than not your subconscious attempting to work out or mull over a particular issue or question that you can't fully understand or come to grips with.
I had a dream character that was a bit of a bully — to both the other dream characters in my dreams and myself — that would often visit me in my dreams; but once I read the Jungian theory regarding the shadow persona (the side of us we consider ugly and want to repress) I haven't been visited by him again.
The fact that he was a recurring theme doesn't mean I have"strong emotional problems." Recurring dreams can mean a plethora of things.
So if he wants to "break the cycle" he needs to understand why he's having this dream and then, if that reason is indeed an issue, he needs to work on the issue. Or at least in my experience that's the easiest way to get rid of them.

I agree with Foul above. I too have had reoccurring dreams over a long period of time. However the more I thought about the dream, and kept track of it. The more changes I was able to encounter later when they reoccurred. Some people can keep some things to them self, but sub consciously its still there. Dreams allow this to escape, sort of like a reminder. I think keeping a journal on it would help. It really helped me out in the past.
And yes like Velzhaed said, its possible to get started with an LD with a reoccurring dream. Since they would already be familiar with the dream a reality check may help.

He should right down the entire dream and post int in the Dream interpretation Section. Im sure he'll be able to get help there, if not then he might have a sickness emotional problem, he needs to find what this means as the subconcious is repeating the dream in order to get a message to him.Until he finds what that is it will repeat till the problem has been worked out :).
