Hello
My friend was telling me about lucid dreams the other day and after reading them I've realized that over the 19 years in my life, I've had many dreams that I could fly in and/or control what I was doing, and it really makes me excited that their is actually a way of making it happen.
Yesterday I did a lot of reading up so last night I tried my first WILD attempt, i did NOT do WBTB. I usually do not sleep on my back but I tried laying in my back, after about 10 minutes of watching my breathe, and trying to find my heartbeat (which i found worked really good for controlling itches) , I noticed vibrations and I started to see lights overcoming the darkness, this being my first time I got really excited and disturbed myself and woke up. After the attempt i did feel a lot more tired then when I first tried and decided to go to sleep after i couldn't focus anymore.
I am planning on trying again tonight and I was wondering if you guys have any tips!

Hi there and welcome to Dream Views!
Since this is the Newbie forum, I'm going to suggest you go to the WILD forum, you should be able to get more appropriate answers for your question there.

Yeah check out the WILD forum, it has alot of great tips. Also, WILD'ing directly when going to bed is very hard, and if you do manage to go into the dream, it won't be in REM sleep. The quality will be horrible. I suggest you try after 6 hours of sleep during a short WBTB. Good luck!

I often find myself waking up once a night so I will try it then, but I will also keep trying before bed, this is something I've always wanted to do but just didn't even know it was possible, so the more practice the better :)

Motivation is always great when it comes to lucid dreaming, but don't expect too much from attempts from when you go to bed. You're often very tired then and lose consciousness before your body goes to sleep. Keep up the good work, but don't let failures dishearten you :) With motivation you can go far.

Radul,
Welcome to the club! I agree with what everyone else has said here already. I will add though that you should feel good about experiencing hypnagogic imagery and sensations. This is not always accomplished and is a step in the right direction! (Many WILD attempts result in the person going to sleep without experiencing hypnagogic imagery.)

I actually tried again this afternoon during a nap, I think the timing of it really effected because it felt a lot different then before bed last night (in a good way). I was motionless for a while then all of a sudden i got this pressure in my foot and it went over my entire body I was really suprised that i didn't move. And after about 5-10 seconds (atleast i think) of watching what felt like a slideshow I woke up. I wish I had something to write in at the time because I only remember that at the end i saw Gene Simmons..
Edit: and thanks for the hospitality, everyone here is so nice and welcoming, I wish I would of found these forums sooner!
