Just starting off
Hey everyone, I've just recently been interested in this idea of lucid dreaming, it's actually pretty awesome. In the past week it's really become an obsession for me, doing all the research I can online, and trying to attain the lucid state when I'm sleeping. The closest I've come to lucidity was this morning when I woke up around 10 AM and remembered part of a short little dream I had (wasn't lucid). I wrote it down in a journal that I'm keeping for this, since everyone says that's what you need to do when you start off. I know the names of the techniques to get you into lucid dream (DILD, WILD, MILD, etc...), but haven't been able to bring myself to one.
Also if anyone has any tips on how I can get lucid, please don't hesitate to post! Also if there's any foods I could take, or things I could do to make myself better at remembering my dreams, please post. Also you guys should know that I'm 14 (freshman in high school), so any kind of pills or hallucinogens are out of the question. Thanks!

Welcome to DV! You're off to the right start. With lucid dreaming, you have to learn to walk before you can run. you can't lucid dream if you can't remember them so it's good you're already keeping a journal. Apple juice, bananas, and peanut butter are what I've heard give the most results and tart cherries (cherries that are dried like raisins) are a personal favorite. For pills and supplements, Vitamin B6 is a good starter, check out this thread http://www.dreamviews.com/f44/supple...ository-56235/ for a complete list of supplements, when to take them, etc.

hi and welcome to dream views. Motivation, which you clearly have, is one of the key elements of success. However it is possible to try to hard which actually inhibits your ability to LD so keep a clear head and you will be lucid dreaming at will in no time.

Thanks guys. In the past few days this website and forum has been a great help and resource. I've actually figured out more stuff about myself, and my REM cycle. I can feel that I'm close to inducing an LD, because this morning I had 4 dreams, and one of them I think was near-lucid (I remember the feelings, colors and such). Also to follow up with Saucy, thanks for telling me about vitamin B6, I actually went out and got some (also got melatonin) and took a vitamin B6 as well as ate some dairy before I went to bed, I honestly think it did make a difference and made my dreams slightly more vivid.

To follow up again, this morning I was in REM, and recalled 1 dream, and it was pretty vivid, unfortunately not lucid. =( But I had peanut butter, an egg, cheesestick, B6 pill (100mg) and some apple juice. I'm able to start dreaming again (before I was a person who rarely recalled dreams), but haven't been able to bring myself into lucid. Any tips on how to (slightly specific to me, not just the names of techniques, please). Thanks!

Greetings Mrhamster,
My advice is to understand it might happen tonight, or it might take quite a while. Don't allow yourself to get frustrated if it doesn't come quick and easy. Also, understand that WILD is more difficult that DILD for most people, myself included. Therefore your cultivation of dream recall and frequent heartfelt realitiy checks are your friend right now. Even though WILD is more difficult, it's still fun and beneficial to try it. Simply noticing your oncoming sleep and experiencing hypnagogic imagery is great progress towards experiencing a WILD.
Above all, keep it fun! Good luck.
