Zero thought process when dreaming?

Hi guys,

Im very new to DV but have been doing the research and am keeping a DJ. Also been setting myself alarms to wake up at 4.5, 6, 7.5 hours and recording the dreams. Im also doing reality checks regularly.

My dreams seem to have no consistency and I never have recurring ones which is making it very difficult to realise that I am dreaming. Although the dreams are bizzarre and unrealistic, I tend to just go along with them and cannot step back and question my surroundings or how I got where I am. I cant seem to think at all whilst i'm dreaming let alone ask myself if I am dreaming. - Any advice?

Im telling myself last thing at night that I will be able to control the dreams, and am following as much of the advice I can that Ive found on the site.

Just wondering if there are any specific techniques to helping make my dreams more clear and allow me to have more of thought process whilst in them.

You can try to comb through your journal entries and look for dream signs. See if there are at least some recurring signs. A dream sign can be anything...a character, object, environment/setting, an action, certain temperature, smell, etc. Also, make sure that you aren't just going through the motions when you perform your RCs. Take a moment to look around at your environment and ask yourself, "Could I be dreaming right now?" Now pretend that everything around you is actually a dream. Perform your RC and see if you actually are. If you can question reality while you are awake, you will do the same in your dreams. one more question, When I wake up in the middle of the night after 4.5 hours to record my dreams Im usually pretty vague with the decriptions I put in the DJ because I dont want to wake myself up completely. It can also take a little while to go back to sleep.

Should I not worry about gettin back to sleep straight away and concentrate on decribing the dreams in lots of detail?

Also is there anything else I should be doing at this point to try and encourage a WBTB Dream?

Well, details in a dream are easily forgotten if you don't make a note of them. You will likely remember the major plot of the dream, or at least be able to remember after reading your notes. So, I would try to write in more of a taking notes form, than actual sentences.

Lets say that you had a dream where you were being chased by a black bear through the woods. He got pretty close to you, swiped his paw, and ripped the bottom of your shirt. You managed to get out in front of him as he sniffed and gnawed the ripped portions of your shirt. You hid behind a giant tree as the bear approached once again. I looked down and noticed there were some blue and gold mushrooms growing at your feet. You picked them up and decided to devour them. The environment started to swirl a bit and colorful flashing lights appeared from the tree tops. You suddenly caught disco fever and you jumped out from the tree and started dancing. The bear now had sunglasses and an large puffy afro. You danced alongside the bear until you woke.

Obviously, this will take some time to write. If you have trouble falling back to sleep, that can be a problem. I would write this dream down like so........ Black bear chased through woods ripped shirt, got away and hid behind tree. saw blue/gold shrooms, ate them. disco from treetops danced with afro bear. woke.
Write key words/events and any colors, temperature, emotions, etc that may help trigger that particular moment of the dream. Once you read back through your notes, visualize the dream and try to replay it from start to finish as you slowly move from one word to the next. Hope this helped.
