Reality Checks failed on me bad!

Hi,

Recently I had a dream in which I looked to my hand, & I couldn't quite tell anything was odd! I had it before, & I was lucky to rember it because I wasn't lucid!

So I figured I had do try another technique. Pinch my nose & try to breathe.
When I was in my dream I tried this, only to find out, I was able to breath, on the other hand, I did the reality check because I felt as if I was dreaming, this drowsy "away" feeling that comes farmiliar. Still I needed some hard evidence of dreaming, and the reality checks fail to give me satisfaction there...

Any sugestions?

Well if you feel like you arent dreaming but the reality check works and you still have consiousness, common sense should take over and tell you to examine your enviroment.
Is your goldfish walking around, did you suddenly seem to live at a mega mansion?
You should examine your enviroment

Normally, by the time I think to do a reality check, I am already lucid. Make sure you are critical of your state of mind when you practice your reality checks during the day. Don't just do them out of habit.

Question if it's a dream > Reality Check
Without question, there can be no answer.

what do you maen by this? when i do rc i do it just cause i suddenly remember to do it and dont think to much of it.

happened to me a few times. My reality check was to try and change a color of something.
And I think it happened 2 times in a dream when that reality check failed.

I realized that that happened because along the way I was just relying on the reality checks and not on generally being aware in my everyday life.
So just try being aware of everything around you, especially how you ended up where you are. Be aware of the colors, of the wind, people around you, touch, smell, sound.
So eventually you wont need some special sort of a reality check. You'll just ask yourself if you are dreaming and know the answer when you look around you.

Or just do reality checks a bit more focused and aware of it, and not only as a reflex.
Dont just look at your hand and think 'okay I have five fingers' count them, one by one.

Nah, I never have magic stuff happening in my dream, it's always sober, and nightmares are restricted to dreaded situations like getting fired or so... No way I can tell I'm dreaming that way.

I just feel as if I am dreaming, and you're right, I should study my enviroment more actively and rub my hands to keep the concentration. Hope it works out!

Screw reality checks, I think most part of them, my mind is able to convince me they work in some way, so I'm stuck there, but I can defenitely feel I am dreamy somehow!

Hey. I just wanna come with a actual example that happened tonight.
Generally I have been trying to be aware of my surroundings, so I did reality checks (looking at my hands) every time something was looking strange.
So tonight I was in a dream, something did look strange and I did a reality check by looking at my hands.
At first sight everything was alright, My hands, 5 fingers, everything normal.
But when I actually started counting my fingers one by one I realized there were 6 of them.
