I may be wrong but I'm starting to think the key might be to approach lucid dreaming with an almost obsessive mind set, especially close to bedtime. it's like when you watch a movie in the evening, then end up having a dream about it. Or if you think about something or someone all day long, then end up having a dream about it or them. That's why I think the reality checks are so important throughout the day. My problem, though, is that I get caught up in my day and forget to do them as often as I should. For a while I had my watch set so that it would beep at the top of every hour so that I would remember to do RC's. But then I read somewhere that it's not good to do that because your subconscious would begin to associate RC's with the beep of the watch. I don't know if that's true or not.
