Exactly, you want your mind to question the state your in, you want to be able to realize that for example, a squirrel gushing out rainbows from it's mouth has to be abnormal, so that you will question it and hopefully do reality checks to become lucid. And yes, if you accept things that are not normal and consider them as reality, most likely you will go back to being non-lucid (normal dreaming).
