Good Path?
I'm trying to plan out my future in lucid dreaming. I thought I would start by reaching the point of recalling one dream per night. I will use a dream journal which I will use until I can remember about 3 dreams a night.
Then I was going to tell myself "I will lucid dream tonight!" every time I exhale until I fall asleep. If I wake up In the middle of the night I'll perform a DEILD.
Next I'm going to use Puffin's SAT method to gain awareness in dreams.
Then I'll prob work on WILDS and figure out the rest from there
So is this a good plan? If not what should I change. And feel free to leave any tips about dream recall DEILD or well anything that could help me achieve my first LD or will help me in the long run. Thank you all you guys have an great forum going on here. Dream on :)

This sounds great and should you have you right on your way to having LDs but don't be disappointed if you can't remember 3 dreams a night. Some people who have been doing this for a while (myself included) only recall 1-2 dreams a night, sometimes none. There's also times when I remember nearly a dozen though :). Also, I would suggest trying MILD (saying "I will lucid dream tonight") first thing. MILDs can be preformed in conjunction with other techniques since it is rather simple and does not interfere with a WILD or DILD.
Also, don't swap techniques after only a few days or a week. It takes several weeks/a couple months for you to be sure if the technique if right or not for you so you're going to want to stick with it for at least some time. One of the most important things to remember when it comes to LDing is being patient and persevering, but to always keep a positive mindset. If you keep this in mind then you will start having LDs in no time :)

Burke is right. You have a good plan, but I wouldn't wait until I can recall 3 dreams. Recall can fluctuate, last night I had at least 4 dreams, but I remember very little of them.
So, if I may recommend:
1. Start a DJ. Write in it everything. Even if all you remember is one word or feeling, or even nothing. Write that together with affirmation, that your dream recall is getting better every day. This will let your mind know, that dreaming and remembering your dreams is important to you and it will help you achieve it. You can also say mantra 'I wake up after dream and remember it', 'I remember my dreams'. Most people wake up naturally after each dream cycle is over, but usually just roll over without realizing it. Those are the best times to write down your dreams - or even just keywords. Have a DJ and flashlight in arms reach.
2. At the same time, start practicing technique called MILD (SAT + RCs + mantras).
3. Also practice mantras just before bedtime. It is best, if mantra is a last thought just before you fall asleep. It's best NOT to use future tens when saying mantras and affirmations. Our minds interpret 'I will" as anytime in the future, just not now. You can find many good mantras on this site, this is just an example: 'Next time I'm dreaming I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming'. For this to work, you have to use looking at hands RC during daytime.
4. Read as much as you can about LDing, so you know what to expect and to keep your excitement up. Excitement and believing in yourself plays a huge role in you becomming lucid.
Happy dreams:)

First off thank you all :). I do believe I mentioned a DJ but I'm too lazy to check ;). Also when I said "wait until I can recall 3 dreams" I meant stop using a DJ. Also I was going to mention the MILDs with the DEILD but I had already typed out my mantra so I thought you would catch my drift. Also I meant after I've mastered a technique I would go to a new one. But I probably would have made that mistake so thanks again and I'm always open to new tips and tricks

After reading my response it kinda sounded like im a know it all. I didn't mean it like that I was just trying to clarify so there is no confusion :shadewink:

Just so you know, if you stop using a DJ your recall can very quickly drop back down to what it was at. You may want to reconsider stopping it after you reach 3 dreams a night!

Thanks for the tiP. it's reconsidered and I will not stop!

Haha right now it's not needed because I havent been able to recall a dream for 3 days. Before that it was one word "Shoes". Dang dream recall :(

Don't worry, just stay motivated and keep it in the back of your mind, it'll improve. :) Have you tried taking melatonin or anything? It's just a regular sleep hormone, can be found over-the-counter at basic pharmacy places like CVS, and it usually helps with vividness.

Yeah, whatever you do, don't stop writing in your DJ. I think this is very similar to what I did when I first started, and I turned out okay. ;) I'm still working on WILD though, since I usually don't attempt it that often. I would also take a look at MILD.
