Hi I'm weather, I actually joined DV in JAN but fell ill and forgot as I was searching for bin/iso healing tones, which I could still do with. I have quite a few but you can never have enough. I don't use them for any LD at all.

I'm in my 40's and have been a natural LD all my life from OBE, AP's, SP and WILD's and some of the other acronyms you use which I can't remember all the names of.

As a child it began with night terrors then quickly progressed to LD and SP with hypno's, which as a child are terrifying and I still don't like them now. My parents were so concerned that when I was about 8 dad thought that I had a brain tumour, LOL!!!!!! Luckily my mum seemed to know what was going on somehow. It's genetic as far as I'm concerned and runs very strongly throughout my family on my mothers side. She dealt with it with aplomb but didn't have a clue how to stop it or what it really was as she had it too, as do all 3 of my sister to varying degrees. Natural born LD'ers ;) but I just found it way too exhausting in the end and had a sleep study about 6 years ago and now take medication which has stopped hypno's and SP completely although one might slip though every now and again. It's also reduced my LD's but I've had my fair share.

I'm just here to say HI, and learn about the rapidly growing interest in this field over the years and what people have to do to reach their aim of ability. It's a fascinating subject that I had no idea had such a huge following. I'm so interested in this that I want to explore it further as my ability to LD has dropped off majorly, from nightly to twice a week and they are very weak and I'm not able to hold them for long.

I had no idea about testing to see if you were in an LD and so much more, I have SO much to learn and so many questions in regards to growing up like this and utterly hating it as it honestly nearly sent me mad. Especially the hypo's and SP which were always violent and quite often tactile.

Did ANYONE else grow up like this, if so I'd love to speak with you.

Welcome to the site! I didn't experience any SP as I was growing up, did have loads of dreams and lucid ones aswell. Ever tried using those SP moments and getting lucid? You're basicly more than halfway there once you're in SP.

Yes Matte, thank you. I actually take medication to STOP it, otherwise it would possibly happen every night again, which for me is too tiring. Once SP is upon me I get literally no chance before a Hypno begins, some can even involve the slapping, punching or being kicked, if I get control of it, it becomes fine but that takes so much practice. Which I haven't really had to bother with for years. I can still enjoy LD without SP and Hypno's (I can't stand them at all)

Wow, those are some violent hallucinations. So sorry. SP is usefull, when you trying to have lucid dreams called WILDs. If you taking medication to reduce SP, I would recommend you look into induction technique called DILD. I'm not sure what effect, if any, will your meds have on DILDs. But those are LD, when in regular dream you realize you dreaming.

DILDs can be induced by practicing Reality Checks, Mantras and Daytime awareness. Here is one of the tutorials for DILD. There are also classes in DV Academy, if you interested.

And to your question about growing up with SPs and HH - sorry, don't know the answer. Hopefully someone will. Good luck:)

Thank you Gab, a sleep specialist prescribed this medication as I was always so exhausted from fighting to gain control over SP and HH, they were always so negative no matter how hard I tried to make them nice, I did actually have a few nice ones but, the unpleasant feeling of a negative entity in the room was always there. Some of the HH were worse than I mentioned but why alarm people AND that was my journey before the internet was available. It doesn't happen to everyone.

I just looked up your DILD page which is how I normally dream or LD now, (freaky but really cool :) I wait for a dream to start, latch onto it and I'm off but as I've stated I can't/don't hold them for long anymore just incase SP and HH begin, but that is very rare when I go down the DILD path. I'm enjoying all this information and learning. I have SO much to learn. The light switch, as in my bedside lamp has been my unknowingly tried and trusted test for well over 20 years, if that doesn't switch on sometimes I'll get up and try the normal room light, then if that's not working I know I'm off. Sometimes I'll go for a wander but most times once I try the big bedroom light or a light in the kitchen I wake up back in bed and that can set of SP and HH occasionally but not so much anymore. For me DILD is a VERY nice way to LD. WILD's are just too full on and unpleasant for my liking.

Is it normal for it to always be a dark pre-dawn bluish colour while LD? It is for me, BUT that doesn't happen or I don't notice it until I've ALWAYS left my room. I've also, on many occasions got up to get a glass of water and noticed it's dawn and I don't need to turn lights on because I can see, but as soon as I touch a glass in the kitchen I wake up back in bed. I'm off to read some of the classes available in the DV Academy.
