I started of rigorously doing RC's and Dream Journal for three weeks before I had my first DILD. I then switched to Mild with WBTB for three weeks. I had 5 or 6 in this time period and I decided to try WILD for a week. After that failed I tried DEILD and I instantly started having LDs. I've been using DEILD for about three or four weeks full on and I can get about two per week (I dont try every night) :).
1 week after studying was my first. I then had another 1 month later. I had 2 in one week a month after that and my last one was about 2 weeks ago.
Exactly 1 week after I started I had my first lucid, well technically it was two... I instantly woke up from a DILD and went into a DEILD.
After that so far I've consistently had 5 lucids per month.
First night I had my first, and second night had my second...When I go for them I reach 1 per week, but it's hard to keep the routine due my jobIt's all about each person "waking" up, not so much about any ultimate method or technique. I can tell you tough that having good sleep habits help loads, along with constant motivation (you want to do it, you need to feel the antecipation) along with some will to change your day just a bit (doing reality checks among other things).
Also, if you're looking for "lucid dreaming practice 24hours" there's also loads of memory improvements that can be done. Memory plays a huge role on it, and it's very detrimental to your recall.
So which method do you guys think is the most reliable?
I had one the night I joined this site, and then a week later. Over the course of that summer I had a few more, but I havnt been serious about RCs or inducing the dreams, therefore it has dropped off quite a bit. It seems just having it on your mind is a great way to get them.
DEILD is probably the easiest way to attain lucidity, in my opinion.Quote:

I started having lucid dreams long before I ever knew what they were. It wasn't until I came here that I first learned about techniques for inducing lucid dreams.
When I do try, mainly during the school year when my kids go to school, I like WBTB and WILD.

Doesn't really matter as long as you can induce the sleep paralysis. I like to breath through my nose because I can simulate the way the body breaths when asleep better.
i read the technique, but how do you know if you are at the end of an REM cycle or not? it says if you have just finished an REM cycle it won't work. I frequently wake up in the night after dreaming, usually 4-5 times, and I can recall the dreams, but how will I know if these are at the ends of REM cycles or in the middle?
By trying, During the night you have around 15 micro awakenings to check if you are properly breathing, Some people wake up naturally at these times, therfore it could be completely random. Even if it was the end of a rem cycle it shouldn't matter too much.Quote:

hmm i really hope so. the guide says it won't work at the end of REM, but I guess theres no way of knowing if your done with REM or not. I guess I'll just try it every time I wake up in the night and hope that one of the times I'm still in an REM cycle. How long would you recommend I stay at it before giving up? Like when I specifically wake up, how many minutes should I remain still before knowing it won't work this time and I'll have to try again later?
Thats whats so great about Deild, you wont know if it's going to fail!!. You will always be able to induce SP, and once your in it and your body really doesn't want to dream you will just fall asleep. There is no way of knowing if it will work until you are right at the end, but believe me it's rare that you will fail to lucid dream if its done right. I dont think that your remcycle will interfer with your attempts.Quote:

Hahaha I know the feeling, I believe it is the ultimate technique too. I've had around 40 deilds including the ones from last year when I last tried LDing. I hope it works for you, Its a shame so little people use Deild, it would be good to have another member to the group :).
how much does thinking play a part? if you think, will you wake up? or should you just start visualizing the dream immediately?
Well I like to find a mid-way point between visualizing and focusing on inducing SP. Sometimes I spend like 20 seconds thinking of what I'm doing but it seems to have no effect on reentering the dream. I dont really know how to describe what I do. I kinda just lie there making my body feel heavy while replaying the last minute from my dream in my mind and try not to focus on it too much.
when you started were you sure it would work or did you have doubts?
I've always used to act like I was a professional Lder and I believe it really helped. I always told myself that this would be the method which I would master, so I never really doubted my ability.
I had my first lucid dream when I was 5... I don't have them too frequently now, but they're always fun when I do :D

What methods are you using?
Every time I try to lucid dream... i have a false awakening, and write my dream in my dream journal (Only to find that I'm asleep). Sometimes I have 3 false awakenings in a row. I even ask myself..."Am i dreaming?", and in the dream I think about it (Forget to do a reality test), and say... "This must be real". Then I will doze off in my dream, then have another false awakening... write down the same dream that I had, ask my self the same thing, and think nothing of it. This is annoying... any advice?
yea, i think there is an easy fix to this. You have to make a firm intent to do a reality check EVERY time you wake up, whether you think its a false awakening or just real life. If you get into the habit of doing this, you will do the reality checks when you have a false awakening and immediately know it is a dream. When I first started trying to LD i had a lot of false awakenings. If you get into the habit of doing reality checks, these are golden opportunities for inducing lucidity.

I've been having them since I was a child. I had a recurring dream that always ended badly. One night I guess something clicked and I thought 'this is gonna go how I want it to'. I never had the dream again and now most of my dreams become lucid
It took me about six weeks for my first. For a few months after that I had about one a week.
Now days I may have as few as one a week to as many as three a night.
