Hi everyone
I have decided to join this site after years of lucid dreaming and only just discovering through searching the Internet, what it actually is! I have been doing this for as long as I can remember - I used to have a nightmare about a horrible man catching me then one day I realised I was dreaming and made myself fly away. Ever since then I have had lucid dreams, many of them - at least 4 times a week. I also have lots of false awakenings. Last night was a particularly busy night for me which spurred me to join this site today. I remember trying to work out in my dream if I was dreaming or not and doing the usual tests of trying to touch things, pinch myself, to see if I could experience pain / have a sense of touch. Weirdly last night for the first time I was pretty convinced that I could experience pain. Is this even possible? I did some other tests within the dream - turning suddenly to see if the scene changed - it did so I knew I was dreaming. The "feeling" thing really freaked me out so I stopped the dream quickly (close my eyes and tell myself to wake up). Has anyone else experienced this? I have never really talked about this with anyone before as those I have look at me like I'm crazy so please forgive me if I'm explaining really normal lucid dream stuff!

Welcome!
Yes, you can experience pain in dreams. A major rule of thumb when lucid dreaming is never, ever close your eyes. Unless you want to wake up ofcourse. As soon as you end up knowing it's a dream your brain wants to wake you up and you can't stay in the dream unless you've got something to hold on to. It might be possible, but the scene will most likely change or you'll wake up.
Check out the different tutorials on the site and see if you recognise any techniques. If you have any questions after that, we're here to hep :)

You can experience anything in a lucid, that you experience in waking life - pain, touch, smell, taste,... Have you ever heard your voice? That's pretty strange, at least for me. You can check out this article for some Reality Checks (RCs), that we do in waking life and then in a lucid, to confirm we are dreaming. Looking forward to your posts. Happy dreams:alien:
