Why I'm here.
So I've always been a fan of dreaming since I was a kid. Now last night I had a dream where I had completely fallen in love with a girl I don't think I know or have even seen. The feeling of love was so overwhelming I forgot I was even dreaming. When I woke up I was completely heart broken. Now the next twist is that I have a girlfriend who I do love very much. It's all so.. Just unreal It's been playing at my mind all day I can't even think. So I turned my mind to research as I always do just learning more and more about dreams and as it turns out I'm not the only one who's experienced this heartbreak. I've had lucid dreams controlled and not. I've studied symbolism in dreams from native American to Egyptian I've never stumbled upon anything about legitimately falling in love and feeling the heart break almost like in the past they didn't record it from the pain and sorrow it brought along. I'm happy I found this forum though and can share my experiences and learn and study from others as well. Hello real world.

Hey EverChasing,
It's good to see your having lucid dreams already. A word of advice if you don't mind, since you said you wanted to learn more about dreams.
Usually it's better to not take dreams seriously, symbolism is much less than pronounced than what some people like to say (especially online). In fact the scientific community have struggled for over a century to remove the concept of Freudian dream analysis, because all evidence points against it.
Dreams as you know are largely experienced in an unconscious state, the common theme between dreams is a lack of reasoning, seemingly random events and also sometimes events from previous days. When taking into account that pretty much 90%+ of all dreams follow these patterns it becomes quiet natural to assume that literally any situation can pop up in a dream.
For instance in your case, in your love dream it's most likely you didn't even know you had a girlfriend already, add to that a lack of control and heightened emotions. It's actually a very natural thing to occur. Another possibility is that you were reflecting your love for your girlfriend in the dream. Chances are that your dream took mild influences from your life and composed a love dream out of it, more likely anyways than that your brain is trying to tell you something
I've had love dream many times, but I choose to enjoy them. They feel great, it's unfortunate that it ends but it's the memory that counts. That's what makes dream so awesome, they're pretty much unpredictable, every night is a new adventure :D

Thanks for opening my eyes a little more and giving me a new outlook on it. Is there a place to put audio recordings on here?
-
No unfortunately not, There should be another solution somewhere else though. Perhaps uploading you audio recordings to google drive or soundcloud?

Welcome to DreamViews, EverChasing!
Ahhhh, that emotional dream hangover... fortunately I think it goes away after a few days. If not, you can always try lucidity to find her again. And yeah I keep audio files on soundcloud. You can also make your own channel on youtube, and make it like an audio dream journal (I'm assuming that's what it would be for). A few of us record podcasts for DreamViews and host them on youtube, and soundcloud too I think :| (I should know this lol)
Anyway, welcome again!
